They still have plenty of firepower with Taylor Barnes Taylor Barnes 6'1" | SF South Grand Prairie | 2025 State TX and Taliyah Parker Taliyah Parker 6'1" | SF South Grand Prairie | 2024 State TX (Texas A&M) to name a few
Other teams that has also advanced to the E-8 in the region is Southlake Carroll led by the four talented Jordan sisters as well as Hebron but here’s a recap of Allen’s victory with the standouts
ALLEN
Pepp with the step is closing out her career with a bang yet the UNSIGNED senior point guard continues to show a couple of very important things. She can run a team by controlling the tempo yet she also understands how to take things over when needed. The game was somewhat close when I opened my wraparound coverage to see her wrapping passes to her teammates for basket yet she also scored when needed, played the passing lane as well as “on the ball” defense
Roberts jumped into my screen elevating off the ground the get rebounds yet she also helped start the break with the outlet or handled the ball herself and went coast to coast to score or dish. She made some good moves to set the defender up in the set to attack the basket, plus she created her shot for the jumper. Her interior defense also stood out, she even defended outside the paint
Cline loves the pressure and her dropping multiple three pointers as well as midrange jumpers while being defended helped change the momentum several times. She patiently sets the defender up, doesn’t force shots and understands how to get hers “in the flow” yet she also attacks the basket strongly and finished after contact
Highlights
Richmond is one of the most improved players in her class that I had already saw next level potential in years ago. She has been in the mix of things and next year, this will be her squad as she is showing leadership potential by comprehension alone. I enjoyed seeing her show the jumper in the set as well as the stop and pop in transition yet her court vision has gotten better, so has her baseline to baseline defense
HIGHLAND PARK
Tyler Corwin
Tyler Corwin
Corwin is a #THROWBACK player that plays bigger than her listed size. She did a good job scoring around the basket, along with rebounding on both ends of the court. Nice ballhandling and court vision
Cate Young
Cate Young
Young showed me the “old standard” I love to see from another era and that was her “hands and footwork” around the basket. Her upside is nice, she moves well on defense, does a good job rebounding as well as running the floor
Ali Jackson
Ali Jackson
Jackson brought some ACTION on both ends and her defense was steady yet her attacking the basket from multiple angles to score or dish was also a plus. She also saw the floor in the set and made good decisions under pressure
