2024 State Tournament: Prospects Shining – Day 2

Even though her team might of lost in their First Round contest, that doesn't mean that Scott didn't have a good game. This team's offense very clearly goes through Scott and her presence in the post. Every time they come down the floor, she is the first to be in the middle in the lane with her hands up, working for position. Whenever her teammates find her, she seems to do a good job of making her size/presence known in almost every facet of the game. Leeling would be considered a shooter/scorer by anyone who has watched her compete this season. It's obvious that her team's offense runs through her and when she can't touch it, it can be a struggle but in this specific contest, everyone did a great job of picking up the slack in the second half, helping them get back in it in the end. Leeling's overall game has some promise and we saw glimpses of that in her Round One matchup. Every time that she takes the floor, she has a productive game. That's been a constant all season long and that was a theme again in her team's first game of the State Tournament on Thursday morning. Hedstorm is smooth, calm, and collected. She never forces a pass and she always makes sure to stop on 2-feet, helping her play off of a balance stance in any situation. In her teams 13 point win in Round One, Hedstorm scored her team's first 6 points and that was just the start. After this she played off of the defenses inability to stop her and she was creating for others in a plethora of different ways in the open court. Pittenger was flying all over the floor, creating steals in the open court and finishing the play in transition on the other end. When it comes to half court offense, she was just as important. Her teammates tried to feed her moving toward the rim and if not, she would step back and step up for a shot from behind the three point line. Usually making it in with a defender in her face. This entire Lincoln Christian team knows how to play fast and they know how to shoot it. If you give any of them any extra time from behind the three point arc, it's most likely going in. Sterup is another prospect that plays with a lot of determination. When she puts her head down and starts to go to work, there is no one that is going to get in her way from accomplishing her goal. Sometimes it's to a fault but majority of the time, it yield positive results. In her team's Round One contest, Sterup was the constant for her North Bend Central squad. She was the prospect that was diving on the floor or jumping into the stands at any given opportunity for a loose ball. When she wasn't doing that, she was attacking her defender, trying to make something out of nothing. I have a lot of respect for Sterup.
