Alana Biosse came to North Carolina joining a very tough Mallard Creek team. She’s one of the many reasons Mallard Creek was such a threat being able to keep the energy levels high and play on multiple levels of the court. She shows a lot of strength on the boards battling against anyone on both ends of the court, and she knows how to score off of offensive rebounds. She reads the floor well on defense making some nice plays on the press to grab the steal.
Reily Johnson was a big help with her school winning the state championship this season as she can fill in any role that her team was needing at the time. She was tough inside getting rebounds. She can handle the ball and knock down her shot from all over the court. She can use her length to block some passes and take them the other direction. Her ability to read the floor, know who the other personnel is, and execute what her team needs her to do was fun to watch.
Highlights
Audrey Teeter’s leadership was definitely something her team needed in the state championship game. Even though her Wayne Country Day team was the runner up, she made sure to keep it a close game bringing a lot of energy and spark with her play making abilities on defense to get something going on offense. She found her open teammates for the pass easily, and she didn’t back down from attacking the basket herself. When her team needed rebounds the most, she always seemed to be in the mix grabbing the boards.
Courtney Taylor has been to the state championship with her High Point Christian team in back to back years, and there’s certainly a reason why she was selected as an All-Star this year. She can make plays moving quickly with the ball getting around her defenders, and she knows how to read her opponents in order to make the right adjustment to get the pass to her teammates. She is always ready to guard the best opposing player with her lockdown defense.
Raziah Mitchell knows how to get inside and get to work finding ways to make it easier for her guard teammates to get her the pass. She can go to work off the dribble, too, if needed, and her footwork is difficult to defend in the paint. She will certainly grab rebounds over her opponents, and she can step outside to put up some shots as well. She’s quick getting up and down the court being ready to score in transition.
