About Darryelle
Expert Analysis
Brazley Barnes | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
An aggressive and physical defender who thrives against elite matchups. She would have bigger numbers on another team but is a key cog in the Kenwood machine. A fun player to watch. Her impact goes far beyond the stat sheet. She brings energy and toughness on every possession, raising the level of everyone around her.

Smith has been a bright spot for Kenwood this year, and showed a similar impact during AAU ball as well. She’s a lengthy player who could be relied on for the defensive end, as well as for an offensive output. Her work on the boards and how relentless she is, is what I believe should have coaches really interested.

Smith has shown improvement in both her skills and IQ each time that I’ve watched her over a year. She has the athletic length but the build that most D1 coaches love to have. The potential is there.

Darryelle was a game changer throughout the weekend for Chicago Hoops Express . She gave the team an offensive rebounding and defensive presence that was crucial to their run to the Championship Game. Darryelle pursued rebounds with a relentless effort that ended in many free throws and put-backs throughout the weekend. She drives through gaps like a running back. Darryelle finished athletic layups and delivered great dump-off passes to teammates when the help defense arrived. She used excellent pivots to score off two feet and climbed way up the ladder to score an offensive rebound tip-in. Darryelle had great defensive awareness off the ball, denying passes with her outside hand in a textbook stance. She created many steals on defense, and her aggressiveness inside forced the opponent to foul. Darryelle made seven free throws in the Championship game, and her contributions in every area earned an All-Tournament First Team selection.

Smith is well on her way to being a legit prospect in this class, and she showed that in almost every game that I caught of hers. She has all the intangibles that make up for a college player. Regardless of the division that she ends up in, her skill set can be utilized in all types of systems.
