Continue ReadingTo say I’m exhausted would be an understatement and with events 3 weeks in a row, I’ll have a chance to catch up as I take Easter weekend off but I’ll be updating PGH Texas rankings starting next week so to not be repetitive, some of those evals will be listed in the updates
Samari Stevenson
Samari Stevenson
Stevenson is long and athletic, that is the base and I have to be repetitive about that. Her ability to play multiple positions was intriguing as she handled the ball well enough under pressure to attack the basket as well as dish off the dribble yet her body control combined with her length is a definite plus. She hit the boards, on both ends, did a good job defensively and played the passing lane
Addison Rohde
Addison Rohde
Rohde may not be at “the magic number” which is 6’0 however she plays as if she’s taller and that in itself gets her the #THROWBACK hashtag. I have seen a glimpse or 2 yet watching her operate inside the paint, on both ends had me smiling. She goes AFTA everything off the rim, understands how to get the outlet going and runs the floor yet she also was a force defensively inside the paint and showed she could score around the basket, putbacks included
Bree Hubbard
Bree Hubbard
Hubbard is technically not a new face, I caught her in 2022, see evaluation here, as she made the Long And Athletic Is The Base, yet I’m all about progression and watching her put the ball on the ground from the wing to attack the basket and score was something I didn’t catch earlier, so was her playing the passing lane but I mention over and over how I love seeing players doing the simple things I hashtag as #THROWBACK, she followed her shot
Allison Rickman
Allison Rickman
Rickman also isn’t a real “NEW FACE” because I saw her briefly at the Houston Christian Camp last August. As usual, I was correct on my assessment on her being able to knock down shots from wherever she chooses but I was equally impressed with her passing, both in the set as well as in the open court. She also did a good job defensing in the set as well as in transition
Brandi Turner
Brandi Turner
Turner can play multiple positions which is always a good thing yet she plays within herself which is even better. She’s a long and athletic guard, that is also the base, that can play the small forward as well. She rebounds on both ends yet seeing her handle the ball afterward and see the floor in the open court was nice, so was her scoring off the dribble in the set. She also did a good job defending, both in and outside the paint and she played the passing lane
Pino smoothly sets the defender up to either attack the basket off the dribble or drop the jumper with the pull-up. Her deceptive first step plays a part in both yet she also showed she could nail the “stop and pop” in transition. Another big plus offensively was her ability to “catch and shoot” while being defended and she saw the floor
