Etienne has always been good, and I can’t remember how young she was when I dropped the #D1Lock on her, but I know it was pre-high school, yet seeing her elevate her game season after season, see evaluations here, but all bets are off, and starting with the Girls TABC Showcase at a new school has placed her in yet another category because she is a legitmate scoring threat on one of the top teams in the Houston area and her ability to knock down big shots down the stretch has been huge

Etienne has been solid every time I’ve caught her, starting at the TABC Showcase, yet seeing her SHOWCASE her skills this season has been a treat for me. She’s been knocking down shots from everywhere in the games I have caught her, but seeing her not only want the ball but delivering down the stretch speaks volumes about her elevating her game and understanding she can take over offensively

Etienne had me drop that #D1Lock on her in middle school, and watching her elevate her game even more since the last time I saw her at the TABC Showcase had me smiling. She’s a “long and athletic” guard, which is also the base, and watching her rebound and go coast-to-coast to score was nice. She scored off the dribble, had nice body control on her finishes, dropped the jumper, and played the passing lane

Étienne had me scratching my head at first, as I thought I was seeing a doppelganger. Yet, after she sliced by a defender to score, I knew it was her. She transferred over and brought a variety of offensive skills, including her pull-up jumper, along with solid court vision

Faith has me thinking about something I said while she was in middle school and that was “You gotta have FAITH in trusting the process” The foundation has always been there yet with her confidence rising along with her maturity, she goes in with the “you can’t stop me” mentality and seeing her showing signs of being able to take over games offensively is becoming clear because she finishes after contact and drops the jumper with a hand in her face

Etienne is another player who has shown improvement each season since junior high when I saw not only next level potential but D1. I see she’s on a new team and blended in nicely yet she also showed she could take over offensively when needed. She created her shot under pressure, elevated and dropped it with a hand in her face but her deceptive first step was also nice as she kept the defender off balance to attack and score off the dribble
