Curtis played with a calm demeanor and a controlled tempo, never looking rushed while handling a heavy offensive load. She finished with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists, consistently getting downhill and drawing contact. Curtis has a mature feel for the game for a freshman guard and showed she can shoulder responsibility in big moments.

Just a freshman, but you wouldn’t know it watching her. Curtis has carried Tuba City like a seasoned upperclassman. Poised, confident, and productive. She controls tempo, scores at all three levels, and doesn’t shy away from big moments. If the Warriors are taking this one, Layla has to be Layla — aggressive, composed, and in command.

Curtis was the engine that made things go for Tuba City and, unofficially, the most valuable player of the division. The freshman point guard played beyond her years, showing impressive composure, scoring instincts, and feel for the game. She picked her spots well offensively and never forced the action. What stood out most was her command—she understood when to attack and when to keep teammates involved.

Layla only a Freshman and yet plays beyond her age, showing impressive skill scoring the ball. She sees the floor well and can stay calm under pressure. She is able to set her teammates up to score and facilitates the ball well. Her greatest strength is being able to score in high pressure moments. As she grows and develops she will continue to be a force to be reckon with.

Curtis arrived at Tuba City with expectations, and she’s exceeded them. The Ballyhood freshman has a very advanced feel for the game, particularly for a point guard at this stage of her development. She sees the floor well, keeps teammates involved, and can score when needed. Curtis is a true offensive threat who can hurt defenses in multiple ways, whether it’s getting downhill, pulling up, or making plays off the bounce.

She is already holding a couple College offers, and she will be very highly recruited before her career is over. She is an excellent 3 point shooter. She can score on all 3 levels and she is a very good ball handler. She is a very versatile athlete that also excels in Volleyball and Cross Country. Look for Tuba City to be in contention for a State Title the next 4 years.

Layla Curtis Layla Curtis 5'7" | CG Tuba City | 2029 AZ is making her High School debut this June, and she may be one of the most decorated players to come out of Northern Arizona when it’s all said and done. Layla had a terrific Showcase, displaying her tremendous outside shooting skills. She is another player that is a multi-sport athlete that excels in Volleyball, Cross Country, as well as Basketball. She is long for a guard and still growing. I see her as the prototype shooting guard, but can play the point and small forward as well. She is a tough defender and runs the floor very well. She will be a top College prospect in Arizona very soon.

Layla is a scoring guard who was not fazed by playing with older players. She has the skill to create space and shoot the perimeter shot with range. She showed the ability to go on scoring runs of her own. She is one of the top incoming freshmen in the state.

Curtis does not disappoint as she is extremely skilled and versatile enough to play both guard positions. She will continue to emerge as one of the top prospects in the 2029 class. Her game is complete on both ends of the floor as she can facilitate, score at all three levels, handle the ball, and defend. She is an exciting playmaker ready to make a splash at the next level. This young lady is just scratching the surface of her abilities. College coaches would be wise to get her on their radar now—her ceiling is incredibly high.

She is a relentless competitor who has an incredible motor. She can guard multiple positions and she can play the point, the shooting guard, or the wing. She will be a D1 College prospect.
