Duel for the Dynasty: 15U All-Tournament First Team

The Dynasty Region Finals tournament over the upcoming weekend will conclude Prep Girls Hoops Circuit play in Texas. Hutchens is only a rising sophomore and already is showing a mature work ethic. Whether she is flashing hard to the high post or sealing down low, she is constantly working. Thus, she draws lots of attention from the defense which creates space for teammates to attack. She uses a polished ball fake to go baseline and finish a reverse layup. She plays under control. She is able to create space and uses an ultra quick release on a beautiful step back three. Her poise under pressure sticks out to me at this age because this is often where players fall into the trap of playing rushed, in a hurry, sloppy basketball. But Lopez is in her own lane avoiding the trap here, as she grabs rebounds and takes her time to pivot out of traffic to find the outlet pass. I saw Lopez continuously looking to set <strong>solid</strong> screens for her teammates, slashing to the basket or anything but standing still without the ball. A lost art in modern day basketball- feeding the post- Lopez knows just how to fake a pass to feed the post inside. After getting past the first line of defense, she crossed multiple defenders to attack the basket and draw contact to get to the charity stripe and finish. Very smooth player, as she won't force but kick out to her teammates for open looks. She has an extremely quick trigger shot which works to her advantage.
