Karis is a prospect whose athleticism, all-encompassing impact, and relentless style not only earned her a high ranking, but an offer from the D2 national champs. After a stout travel season for REAL , she continued to separate herself at elite camps and team camps during the summer. Karis is one of the best rebounding guards in this class. She has acrobatic finishing abilities and jumps out of the gym. Karis wreaks havoc on the defensive end, which shows up in steals and blocks. She makes the hustle plays and contributes in every statistical category. It became evident in August that Karis had clear potential as a D2 guard and I was excited to see her GVSU offer. She’s a great pick-up for the Lakers and will be a game wrecker for Sacred Heart again this winter.

Karis vaulted up our rankings in the latest update. She consistently performed at a high level in front of our scouts at many tournaments while playing up with REAL 17U. Her athletic attributes, relentless motor, acrobatic finishing, passing prowess, and defensive impact have been separators in her game. Karis has stretches where she doesn’t miss from three-point distance, and she sets the standard for how a guard should pursue rebounds. Karis put all of these qualities on display again for Sacred Heart at Northwood Team Camp. She buried an elbow jumper and a three-pointer at the top of the key. Karis chased down a ball-handler from behind and poked it out for the steal. She closed out hard to block a shot attempt and drove hard to score a layup with her left hand. Karis pushed the ball with breakneck speed in transition to score layups and earned trips to the free throw line. One of her most impressive plays happened as she beat full-court pressure with a series of quick crossover dribbles and dished a dime to a teammate for the assist.

Karis was lightning in a bottle for REAL at the MBA Mother’s Day Classic. She competed like a scholarship was on the line all day, and I couldn’t look away when she stepped onto the court. Karis snagged a defensive rebound and pushed the ball quickly the length of the floor to score a contested layup. Karis buried straightaway threes and drove to the basket with fearless determination to score layups and get to the free throw line. She knocked down many shots from the charity stripe. I wrote down “hard work on defense” and “relentless” multiple times while watching Karis compete. Her lockdown defense and effort resulted in several steals and blocks. Karis scored a staggering 25 points in her first game, and her complete impact was noticed on Saturday.

Karis had a stellar sophomore season for Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart. She earned D4 First Team All-State honors, averaging an impressive 19.6 points, six rebounds, five steals, and three assists per game. She’s an athletic finisher with shifty combination dribble moves that help her gain the edge to score off the bounce. I’m excited to see Karis compete on the circuit with REAL again this spring. She’ll be one of their top prospects.
