Michigan high school girls basketball is just over a month away from getting underway, which means it's time to start looking ahead to the 2026-27 season. Over the next several weeks, I'll be rolling out plenty of preseason coverage, including division previews, conference previews, team previews and players to watch throughout the state. I've also started reaching out to varsity coaches about team previews when I have their contact information. If you're a varsity coach and would like to have your team featured in a season preview, please feel free to reach out to me at danyle.bowers@gmail.com. I'm excited to get the high school coverage started and begin taking a closer look at what's ahead this winter.

Division 4 will have a different look this season after graduating some of its top talent, including Associated Press Division 4 Player of the Year Jenessa Eagle, along with Molly Walker, Mya Hemmer and Emersyn Bachelder. Ishpeming finished last season on top with a state championship, while Portland St. Patrick put together an impressive run to finish as the runner-up. With several familiar names moving on, the door is open for a new group of players to take on bigger roles and make their mark across Division 4. There is still plenty of talent returning throughout the state, including proven players and others who could be ready for breakout seasons. Here's a look at some of the returning Division 4 talent I'll be keeping a close eye on this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='807279' first='Mia' last='McGregor'] returns for her senior season at Mio after putting together a remarkable junior year that earned her First Team All-State honors. McGregor scored an MHSAA-record 1,071 points, averaging 42.8 points per game while knocking down 125 three-pointers and recording a season-high 61 points. Her impact went well beyond scoring, as she also averaged 14.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 6.4 blocks per game. Those numbers show just how many different ways McGregor can take over a game. She helped lead Mio to a 20-5 record and a district championship, and she enters her final high school season as one of the premier players in Division 4 and across the state. McGregor has already committed to High Point, and after what she accomplished as a junior, it will be exciting to see what she has in store for her senior season.

Karis Terwilleger returns for her senior season after earning First Team All-State honors as a junior and being named the All-Morning Sun Player of the Year. She surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career while averaging 21.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.3 steals per game and shooting an impressive 52.1 percent from the field. Terwilleger's production on both ends of the floor played a big role in helping her team finish 19-6 and capture a district championship. Her ability to score efficiently is a big part of her game, but the 5.3 steals per game also show the impact she can make defensively and her ability to create additional opportunities for her team. Terwilleger has already committed to Grand Valley and enters her senior year as one of Division 4's top returning players.
Bree is already one of the top players to watch in Division 4 despite entering just her junior season at Ewen-Trout Creek. The 5-foot-4 guard earned First Team All-State honors as a sophomore while also being named the Copper Mountain Player of the Year. Bree averaged 17 points, four assists, four steals and four rebounds per game, showing the ability to impact the game in several different areas. She may not be one of the biggest players on the floor, but she plays with toughness and finds ways to make things happen on both ends. Her scoring and playmaking give Ewen-Trout Creek an offensive weapon in the backcourt, while her four steals per game show the pressure she can create defensively. Bree helped lead her team to a 22-4 record and a district championship last season, and with two high school seasons still ahead of her, she is a Division 4 player I'm excited to continue watching.

Bradie returns for her senior season at Concord after earning First Team All-State honors as a junior and playing a major role in an outstanding season for the Yellowjackets. The talented guard was Concord's go-to scoring threat, averaging 18.3 points per game while also contributing 6.9 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 4.4 assists. Those numbers show just how much Bradie can impact a game beyond putting points on the board. She can create for her teammates, rebound from the guard position and make things happen defensively with her ability to create turnovers. Bradie helped lead Concord to a 24-3 record while capturing conference, district and regional championships along the way. After the success she and the Yellowjackets experienced last season, Bradie enters her senior year as one of the top returning players in Division 4 and should once again be a big piece of a Concord team with high expectations.

Addi returns as one of the top players to watch in Division 4 after earning First Team All-State honors last season. The 5-foot-7 guard was a consistent scoring option for Battle Creek St. Philip, averaging 18.4 points per game while also making a big impact on the glass with 9.4 rebounds per contest. Her rebounding production is especially impressive from the guard position and shows her ability to contribute in more ways than just scoring. Addi helped lead the Fighting Tigers to a 14-9 record and established herself as a player opponents have to account for each time she steps on the floor. With her ability to produce offensively and compete on the boards, she brings plenty of value to Battle Creek St. Philip. After a First Team All-State season, Addi will be an important piece for the Fighting Tigers again this winter and a player I'll be keeping a close eye on throughout the season.

Gracelyn returns for her senior season at Portland St. Patrick after earning Second Team All-State honors as a junior and helping lead her team all the way to the Division 4 state championship game. She surpassed 1,000 career points last season while averaging 15.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 2.8 assists per game. Her production across the board shows the different ways she can contribute, whether it is scoring, rebounding, creating for teammates or making plays defensively. Gracelyn was a key piece of a Portland St. Patrick team that finished 23-6 and came just one win away from a state championship. With the experience of making a deep postseason run and another year of development behind her, she enters her senior season as one of Division 4's top returning players. I'm looking forward to seeing what Gracelyn and Portland St. Patrick can do after last year's impressive run to the state finals.

Lily returns for her senior season at Vestaburg after earning Second Team All-State honors last year. The talented forward was a major part of what Vestaburg did on both ends of the floor, averaging 21.1 points, five rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.6 steals per game. She also surpassed 1,000 career points, adding another impressive accomplishment to her high school career. Lily's ability to score is certainly a big part of her impact, but her numbers also show that she can create for teammates and make plays defensively. She helped lead Vestaburg to a 14-10 record last season and will once again be an important piece of the team as a senior. With an All-State season and the 1,000-point milestone already on her résumé, Lily has put together an impressive career and will be one of the Division 4 seniors I'll be keeping a close eye on this winter.
