spent the last three days at Summer Jam out in Minnesota. I didn't tweet much because I wanted to take photos. However, I saw plenty of basketball over the past few days and have plenty of kids we'll highlight over the next few days.

The Brookfield native led the 16U top bracket in scoring, with 85 points over her four games in Minnesota. Piurkowski has a knack for putting the ball in the basket, which she did at will on Saturday. She scored 35 and 27 in her two games on Saturday. The 5'11 wing loves to score the ball and can score it from all three levels. The rising sophomore could be a breakout this high school season at Brookfield East.

I thought Martin showed a little of everything at Shokopee High School. There were moments when she made decisions with the ball on her team's press break, made plays in transition, created some shots off the dribble, and used her length to make plays on the defensive end of the floor. Martin is a versatile kid who can help her team in different ways and has gained confidence throughout her sophomore season at Hortonville. She'll play a significant role for the Polar Bears this season.

A statement a coach can make about a player's defense is placing them on some of the best guards on wings in the region, and Shaw earned that trust from her coach this weekend. In some of those possessions, kids will make difficult shots. I saw Shaw make scoring opportunities as uncomfortable as possible, and I thought she did an excellent job of helping her team compete against talented groups in the region. I also loved her engagement away from the ball. She made plays on the ball when the other team tried to backdoor her, and each time I saw them try that, Shaw got a hand on the ball.

The way that Gosz finds space to score has always been intriguing to me. The Germantown native seems to know how and where to get her shots from, even when she doesn't have the ball. She finds her way to the basket and has an excellent touch around the rim. I believe she's become one of the more consistent off-ball guards in her class and reliably scores whenever her team needs her. I love her footwork around the rim and how well she gets her hands on wayward passes in full-court presses or half-court defense.
