During our evaluations, we found a number of new guard prospects who we felt deserved to be ranked in this update. Here are a few of those guards who we are excited to recognize for their performance.
Reese Lape Reese Lape 5'9" | SG Grass Lake | 2027 State MI -5-9-SG-Grass Lake-Mystics South
Reese has impressed our scouts across the board at nearly every event we have seen her compete in during the Grassroots and Summer high school season. She has the quickness and scoring ability to compete as a guard, but adds strength/athleticism to defend forwards and finish in the paint. What makes Reese an exciting prospect is that she has competed at a high level against top Varsity opponents and still has room to develop as an offensive player. Reese is relentless on the offensive boards and aggressively blocks shots on defense. She has great leaping ability to score contested shots, beat defenders off the dribble for layups, and outside range to hit 3s. Reese has a high ceiling and has proven herself to be one of the top 2-guard prospects in her class.
Maraeyah Smith-5-3-PG-Flint Carman-Ainsworth-Mystics-Chosen
Maraeyah is a shifty guard with eye-opening athleticism, shifty offensive abilities, and lockdown defense. Maraeyah caught my attention when she dropped 17 against me during the HS season with FCA, hitting 3s, and scoring downhill off the dribble. She added an exclamation point this spring at multiple tournaments with her outstanding on-ball defense, knockdown 3 point shooting, and explosiveness off the dribble. Maraeyah creates space with her ball handling control and explodes downhill to beats defenders to score with great touch around the basket. She is a tough player who will sacrifice her body on both ends to make a play for her team and is a point guard who I expect greatness of in the SVL conference. Maraeyah will have the opportunity to fill a big role for her team this winter and she looks ready to lead the way.

-5-6-CG-Clinton Chippewa Valley
Gracyn stole the show at Wayne State Team Camp and when you add in how impressive she was as a Freshman for Chippewa Valley, it’s clear that she deserves to be recognized in our rankings. Gracyn was BCAM Best Honorable Mention as a Freshman and is also an excellent soccer player. Her effort and determination on the basketball court is immediately noticeable. She creates steals with her pressure and turns on the jets to beat the defense to score full-speed layups in transition. Gracyn is a knockdown 3-point shooter and she has great balance to hit outside shots off the catch and the dribble. Gracyn is a great guard prospect who has the potential to play at the next level. Her high performance on the court without focusing on basketball outside of the school season shows how great her potential truly is.

-5-7-PG-Negaunee-
Zero Star Basketball
Gretel is a lockdown defender with excellent ball handling and finishing control for Negaunee. She is one the brightest guard prospects in the Zero Star Basketball program and sets a standard for defensive pressure. Gretel constantly gets her hands on the ball and has the acceleration off the dribble to score in transition after steals. She creates space off the dribble and scores effectively on her drives to the basket with a variety of attack moves and finishes. Gretel has great balance and release on her shots and hits the outside shot. She is going to have a key role on Negaunee’s squad that made a historic run to the final four last season.
