Northwood Team Camp: Formidable Forwards

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Northwood University hosted its second high school team camp on July 16-18th with teams from different regions of Michigan competing on campus. There was a fantastic variety of teams attending from all across Michigan and the OT Tournament continues to be a staple of the camp. Her outstanding effort, verbal communication, and performance in the paint have cemented her in my mind as an underrecruited center in the state right now. Kiera is a fierce competitor, she pushed the ball full court after rebound coast to coast to score a full-speed contested layup at the rim. Kiera has great footwork in the paint and utilized step-throughs/pivots to score. One of her best buckets happened when she used a forward pivot and elevated off two to shoot over a 6-foot defender. She had multiple blocks, steals, and rebounds at camp then added a full-speed finish off two in the paint. My favorite play Georgia made happened after she missed a shot and instead of sulking, Georgia went into turbo mode to chase down the guard in transition and steal the ball back. Her closeout speed on shots is fantastic and Georgia knocked down a corner 3. She corralled rebounds and attacked a defender off the dribble to score a drop-step left layup. Annie uses an effective strong and wide base in the low post to seal off her defender; she caught multiple entry passes and finished drop steps off two at the rim. Addie knocked down a wing jumper, celebrated her teammate's success, and was a relentless rebounder. Addie scored with power through a foul off of a screen and roll with her left hand and beat her defender baseline on a drive to score off two at the rim. Addie used a hesitation dribble to blow by her defender and finish a contested layup then stole the ball on the other end. She blocked shots, fought for 50/50 balls, dished assists, and scored many layups through contact at the rim. Mia has good vision as a passer out of the high post and created scoring opportunities with her accurate entry passes down low. Mia scored a transition layup, baseline floater off the bounce, and worked for multiple offensive rebounds.
