I want to shift some attention to the Northern part of the state. Once you get past Eau Claire, Green Bay, or Stevens Point, there's not much up there. There are solid towns up north, beautiful scenic locations, and things to see. However, the rest of the state doesn't pay much attention to it. There are plenty of talented kids up there that people don't see often during the high school season because of where they are, so I want to highlight a handful today. We'll stick to the non-power four-bound players and kids already committed for this today.

The Neillsville wing played mainly as a floor-spacer, and she played that role at a high level. She shoots 39% from the three-point line and has a high release. Due to her length, it was challenging for defenders to get a solid contest on her shot, which allowed her to shoot it whenever she wanted. She's a talented enough shooter that some WIACs will probably like her, and she'll have plenty of regional D3 interest. Her shooting is that good.

[player_tooltip player_id='842221' first='Melaina' last='Granquist']

Forwards who can play inside and out are as valuable as any other kid you can have. Granquist averaged a double-double in her sophomore campaign for Wittenberg-Birnamwood and shot the ball at a decent clip from beyond the three-point line. Granquist also had a solid summer that recently wrapped up with [program_tooltip program_id='712778' first='Purple' last='Aces'] and generated attention from next-level coaches. Her versatility will continue to generate intrigue from next-level coaches.

[player_tooltip player_id='842211' first='Taelyn' last='Jirschele']

The Mosinee guard is a physical 5'5 guard who can score the ball at a high level. Jirschele shot the lights out in her sophomore season from the three-point and did an excellent job as the focal point of the Mosinee offense. The Mosinee native is an athletic kid and used that athleticism to beat her initial defender off the dribble. She finished well around the basket and did a solid job playing through contact. She's undersized, but she'll have a handful of small schools after her next summer and probably some this high school season. Jirschele is as productive as anyone in Northern Wisconsin.

[player_tooltip player_id='842247' first='Madi' last='Thomson']

After helping Lena to a state title game in March, Thomson had a solid summer with [program_tooltip program_id='713127' first='Wisconsin' last='Legends']. The 5'10 wing does most of her best work around the basket by attacking off the dribble or cutting away from the ball. She has a solid motor and makes extra-effort plays often, and she rebounds well for the position. Thomson has solid length and can cause chaos on the defensive end when she switches to smaller guards on the perimeter. The Lena wing may not be a name people think of in the 2026 class as being one of the most successful kids at the high school in that class, but she had her Lena group a minute away from a state title. Not many kids in that class can say that. She's found success everywhere she's been
