McLaughlin put together a successful Spring Live Period while helping her team as one of their top notch PG’s. The AIA program is loaded with guards in the boat load and McLaughlin stands out as one of the best for her age level because of her ability to make plays down the court as a scoring and passing threat. After putting in work and showing up this past weekend she received another D1 offer to Omaha out of Nebraska. This program is in line with the other type of offers that McLaughlin has received so far. If she keeps working her tail off and making everyone else around her better than I’d expect there to be several more offers on the table prior to the Fall.

or better known asPG #1, is looking like the next Ava Zediker in my book with how well she can get a handle on any game she competes in. McLaughlin is a monster assister, a scoring threat from all three offensive levels, and she communicates with her teammates really well as their top-dawg. She would be considered a pass-first PG but she isn’t afraid to slow things down to help her team control the pace of play throughout either. This is someone that really embodies what this article is all about. If McLaughlin was my PG, she would have all of my trust to go out and make good choices when it matters the most. She has done this her whole life on a national scale and we see that every night she competes for the Regina Regals out of Iowa City as well.

has proven again this season already. that she is as good as advertised. McLaughlin is a crafty facilitator as a starting PG with a heck of a shooting strap from deep. McLaughlin is one of those PG’s that you can give the ball too and you can trust that she will make the right choices with it every time without question. She can control pace of the game when she has it in her possession, she understands how to use her step through ability off of two feet once she is in the kill zone of the defense, and she isn’t afraid to light the nets on the fire when her team needs some scoring. All of this stuff has been McLaughlin’s MO this Winter. She has had some other step up to help but she is going to keep more of that if they want to make a run following their regular season.

isn’t on your wish list as a college coach, you need to write her name down. The 5’5″ super sophomore is exceeding all expectations and leading her IC Regina team to a strong first half of the season (7-2). McLaughlin checks all the boxes — a silky smooth + accurate jumper (shooting at 35% on the year), an explosive first step to fly past defenders off the dribble, excellent handles, and one of the top assist counts in the state (58). I love McLaughlin’s bounce and ease with the basketball. She doesn’t get sped up, makes defenses adjust to her pace, and is comfortable finishing at tough angles with both hands in the paint. If her season stats (26PPG, 5.6RPG, 6.4APG, and 5.6SPG) aren’t indicative enough of the season she’s having, her last game — a 41 point outing against ranked Tipton — should convince you!

of Regina High School is in. McLaughlin is the team. She is the source. The source of what you might ask? The source of everything for the Regals. The scoring, assisting, stealing, defending, rebounding, communicating – it’s all McLaughlin. She is PG #1 per usual but now she has less help then ever so to see how she will adapt to this situation will tell us a lot. In this piece McLaughlin holds onto the #5 spot. Which is a nice place to be moving into 2026.

I cannot stress how often coaches look for players that can pass. the. rock. As simple as it may seem, players that can make crisp post-entry passes are immediately going to get more looks from college coaches — and sophomore

is a great example of a player who will get the ball to you when you need it. Last season the IC Regina product was one of the top passers in the state, averaging 5.6 dimes per game. Alongside an impressive scoring line of 17 points per game last season as a freshman, McLaughlin’s offensive skillset makes her a must-watch in the Cedar Rapids area. Keep your eye on this one!

is going to show the 2A Class what a Division-1 basketball prospect looks like over the next few years with her dominance. McLaughlin is a game-controller. Someone you give the ball too and you can trust that they are going to make things happens as a creator and distributor, always making the right play. When she passes the ball, she always throws a dime where her teammates are going to be, not where they are at during that given moment. In other words, she always leads the others around her with a pass and it usually looks pretty impressive as it shows her knowledge of the game at her position. McLaughlin holds a couple D1 offers but it’s only a matter of time until that changes.

to become the fast of Iowa City Women’s High School Basketball. McLaughlin is a star. Simply put. A Point Guard with a D-1 level, that can shoot the leather off of the basketball while being a crafty creator and distributor to the teammates around her. Don’t get it twisted though, McLaughlin can eat on defense as well. She recorded just over 100 Steals on the year on the way to the 2A State Tournament. Now that she is going to be solely responsible with all of their production on both sides of the ball, I expect even better numbers this time around. She is coming off of a AAU EYBL National Championship and she grabbed multiple D1 offers in the process. I expect that train to keep on rolling moving into this Winter but we will just have to wait and see how it plays out.

picked up another Division-1 offer, this time being from South Dakota. Coaches are starting to take more notice is McLaughlin’s play-making ability. She is your ideal PG that can lead an offense within their system, while also being a smart defender. She also has a flame thrower on her from deep. She can fill it up in a hurry when she has space. It’s noteworthy. I’m assuming McLaughlin will have a few more offers before her Winter season kicks off at IC – Regina. She is that type of player so I’m excited to see what she can do being her team’s leader over the next three years.

EYBL 15U program. McLaughlin took the Varsity floor and led her team to the State Tournament last season with very little help. She was one of her team’s top two dawgs and she made the most of every chance she was given. McLaughlin is a next level PG, that can also light the nets on fire with her jump shooting ability. As of most recent, she received her first Division-1 offer to Eastern Illinois. This is her first but won’t be her last. I’m sure she will end this Summer with a handful of D1 offers. She just needs to continue to do her thing into Nike Nationals next month.
