I am also really excited about Alaysia Williams Alaysia Williams 5'5" | PG Kennedy | 2028 IA this season for Cedar Rapids Kennedy. Coming off a freshman season averaging 2.6 points per game, I can already tell the sophomore is planning to make big strides. She’s a super gritty kid and carries this confidence on both sides of the basketball — she’s got quick handles, attacks space with the dribble really well, and can get herself to the rim with either hand. She’s also an unselfish passer and found teammates ahead of the pack on a handful of rebounds. Defensively she tipped a number of passes, tallied a few blocks, and never shied away from physicality (in fact, she encouraged it). Williams also did well to get Kennedy organized and into its sets in the half court.

I really liked Alaysia Williams Alaysia Williams 5'5" | PG Kennedy | 2028 IA ‘ confidence and energy in practice this week, and I think it will translate during games this season. She’s a pesky defender that isn’t afraid to make ball handlers uncomfortable, and she’s confident stepping out and shooting from deep – even with a hand in her face. I think Alaysia has the potential to be an energetic spark this season for the Cougars.

Alaysia Wiliams is a prospect that is currently playing up an age level this AAU season with her Ball Stars team but you’d never know that if you watched her compete out on the floor with this group. Williams will be attending Kennedy High School out of Cedar Rapids and I’m sure she is going to be make her mark on that program overtime. She is a tricky guard, that has a great pace of play, great vision, and smart head on her shoulders. This Winter Kennedy will return a good amount of their roster from years past but that doesn’t mean that Williams won’t come in right away and make an instant impact. I’ll have a chance to see this Kennedy team perform next week at a high school shootout in Des Moines and that should shed some light onto who their actual Varsity roster is. I’m excited to see what they bring to the event and how they return after the 2024 season.

One of the more interesting players from this Class coming in comes to us in the form of Alaysia Williams Alaysia Williams 5'5" | PG Kennedy | 2028 IA . Wiliams is a quick PG, who understands her role and position with her team’s to a T. She isn’t someone that tries to do too much, while being a creator with the basketball in a number of different ways. This winter she will be lacing up with Kennedy High School, following an AAU season where she will be playing up with the Iowa Ball Stars 15U team. This Kennedy program has always done it right in my eyes so if they can develop Williams into an even more well-rounded prospect, she is going to be a top player out of this 2028 Class at the end of the day. To grow, you have to struggle. You have to understand where you stand compared to others, while aways being willing to adapt. I think Williams has the ability to do all of this right now but we just need to see it first hand. I don’t think she is going to play Varsity as a Freshman but I could be mistaken. If she really puts on this Spring, we will have to reevaluate that come this Winter.
