About A’leeyah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would consider myself a complete point guard. I am a leader on the court that can create for myself and others on offense, but can also lockdown on the defensive end. Being a three level scorer, I have the ability to shoot the 3, mid range, and drive strong to the hoop. I bring a level of toughness that I picked up playing AAU with and against boys over the years.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a hard worker who loves to get better on and off the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am part of my schools senate and a High honors student. Also a recipient of the Ed Mueller award.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I feel like I am a natural leader and love to be part of a team.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Summer before freshman year I tore my ACL. It was a major setback physically and mentally. As soon as I was cleared to do PT I was focused and worked hard to get back on my game. My work ethic really brought me to where I am today.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college that I can play my game and also earn a degree.

A’leeyah moved her feet quickly to force a turnover and worked hard to cut off dribble drives on the defensive end. She took a DHO straight to the rim with a burst and banked in the floater over a defender. A’leeyah converted full-speed finishes efficiently in transition, knocked down free throws, and drained a smooth wing three off the catch. She had a very impactful day for John Glenn at the Hemlock Holiday Classic, leading the team with 17 points and adding four rebounds.
