An athlete who made her name last season, dishing out assists, was Burlington’s Splechter. As a sophomore, she dished out assists like Giordano’s hands out slices of Chicago Deep Dish. The Wildcat point guard recorded a total of 95 assists in 20 games. She also averaged 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.2 steals per contest. She is ranked No. 43 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027.

Alexa Spletcher is a premier “3-and-D” guard, showcasing her exceptional value on both ends of the court throughout this AAU season. Her ability to consistently knock down three-pointers is a significant offensive asset, forcing defenders to guard her tightly and effectively stretching the floor for her team’s offense. She possesses the sharp-shooting touch to be a constant threat from long range.
Beyond her perimeter scoring, Alexa’s defensive impact has been equally impressive. She exhibits the tenacity and intelligence required to be a disruptive perimeter defender, effectively guarding opposing ball-handlers and contributing to her team’s defensive schemes. This combination of reliable outside shooting and strong defense has allowed her to truly excel and “kill it” during the AAU season.

In a 3A classification filled with great point guards Splechter not only continues to show she is in that number but is rising to be among the best of the best. Her strong handles, perimeter shooting, quickness and speed, motor and fierceness are a given but what she showed at the recent PGH Kansas City Clash really impressed me. She is a leader. She can direct traffic but her game spoke for itself. Splechter fed teammates the ball at the right time and made consistently strong decisions on what to do with the ball and when to take the shot herself. This past season she picked up first team Pioneer League (HM in 2024) and KSHSAA and SIK 3A honorable mention selections.
