The freshman wing makes her playoff debut against a tough Arvada West squad but she doesn’t play like a newcomer. As the season has progressed she’s become an important offensive piece breaking defenders down to get to the rim, or knocking down the three. She has the ability to defend multiple positions, making her a steady presence on both ends of the floor.

The freshman is a tough cover. She handles the ball well for someone her size. She’s best around the rim but also has a nice mid-range and 3-point shot. She’s an effective rebounder and consistently looks to make plays for her teammates. Fruita Monument is the 19 seed and is at No. 14 Arvada West in the Round of 32 on Saturday.

The 5-foot-11 freshman has found her 3-point stroke early on this winter season. After going 0 for 8 from behind the arc in her first two games, she’s shot 50% or better from 3 in four of her last eight. Her stroke is smooth and quick as she can create her own shot or catch-and-shoot without hesitation. Her offense inside the paint is strong as well. She has great awareness around the hoop and is developing a hook shot that is lethal close to the hoop.

A post player for The Valley 15U, Hopkins does a great job owning the paint on both ends of the court. On defense, she takes care of the block, making sure that other post players aren’t able to get anything easy. She is able to find the ball off the rim very well to clear the boards for her team. Offensively, Alivia has really good hands. She can catch the ball on the run with control and to finish. She can also catch from a post-up and make moves to get scores. Hopkins is strong with the ball in her hands, she earns her fair trips to the free throw line for her efforts. She can also get points from her work at the high post with the ability to hit 10-15 footers with confidence. Keep an eye on this one as the summer presses on.
