Hawkins has had a great summer with TBW ’25, and I think she’s the “x factor” for this team.  Everyone knows that Wilhite will bring.  The question is if Hawkins and Clark can take advantage of the defenses overplays, and attack those open gaps, and bring a new layer of offense to the team’s attack.

Aliyah “Speedo” Hawkins is a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court. As a point guard, she embodies the essence of control, finesse, and tenacity. Her nickname “Speedo” aptly describes her lightning-fast moves and agility on the court.

Handling the ball with unparalleled skill, Aliyah dictates the tempo of the game with precision. She has an innate ability to read the flow of the game, adjusting her speed and strategy accordingly. Her court vision is unmatched, allowing her not only to create scoring opportunities for herself but also to set up her teammates with pinpoint passes.

What sets Aliyah apart is her toughness. Despite her slender frame, she fearlessly drives into the paint, challenging even the most imposing defenders. Her resilience in the face of physicality is a testament to her unwavering determination.

Aliyah thrives on competition and is always ready to face off against the best. Whether it’s in high-stakes tournaments or intense league matchups, she rises to the occasion, consistently delivering standout performances.

In summary, Aliyah “Speedo” Hawkins is more than just a point guard; she’s a game- changer, a leader, and a relentless competitor who leaves her mark on every game she plays.

I thought she was awesome on Saturday morning.  For another article, I just wrote about how I hope she is more aggressive offensively next season for Cumberland County, as I know she has the skill set to be more of a threat next year.  When she gets downhill towards the rim, and is allowed to use her strength to absorb contact, she’s just deadly.  In both wins on Saturday, she was ultra aggressive attacking gaps and making the right play in the paint.  She scored 8 points and had 12!!! assists in TBW’s 2nd win.

Next season, as teams load up on Sydney Wilhite Sydney Wilhite 5'10" | SG Cumberland County | 2027 State TN , I’d love to see Hawkins attack the defense more and exploit the overplaying defense.  That’s what she did today.

Right now…she has zero offers.  Some college coach is going to get supremely lucky with bringing her into the mix!

“Speedo” is a kid that could have much different stats on a different team…but to her credit….she doesn’t care about stats.  The PG has filled her role perfectly with a high level freshman scoring SG by her side.  She’s giving 12 points and 4.5 assists, while constantly putting pressure on the rim collapsing the defense for shooters.

I really didn’t know what to expect from Hawkins statiscally for the Lady Jets after watching her this summer, but when you watch her play it’s apparent she’s a winner.  Her season has been a “godlilocks” year–she hasn’t tried to do too much, hasn’t done too little, but rather many would agree her contributions have been just right.  On a team with youthful scorers, and skillful veteran leadership, balancing all that can be tricky….but Hawkins has led this team incredibly well.  Statistically, a PG giving you 12 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds with high level perimeter defense is game changing.

Arguably a top 5 point guard in her class.  Watch her clips on Twitter.  She plays with a swagger that you want in your PG. She has an amazing ability to change speeds to keep defenders from keeping her in front and is extremely strong. Great floor vision and can finish at the rim through contact. Very tough and competes at a high level.  I think she’s a hidden talent that not enough know about.

Aliyah Hawkins Aliyah Hawkins 5'7" | PG Cumberland County | 2025 State TN will be leading us at point guard this season. She has put in a lot of time coming off the bench over the last two seasons but in all honesty she has played starter’s minutes for us as a freshman and sophomore. She had great leaders in front of her for two years and is primed for a great season. She is an excellent shooter but her best attribute is her passing ability. She is fast, and  has an excellent basketball IQ.
