in an article before the season started and I knew that she would be able to contribute right away. So far this season, my prediction was spot on.
Vaughn has been used as a sparkplug off the bench for the Lady Bulldogs this season. She has been effective on both ends of the floor, which is especially difficult to do considering she is a part of one of the best guard rotations in the state. On offense, Vaughn will come into the game and immediately be ready to shoot the 3-ball. She is a solid shooter who uses a quick release.
On the opposite end, Vaughn plays solid on-ball defense. She will be playing against some great guards this season out of the 6A West, so what she has shown so far on defense is a welcoming sign for this Springdale team.
She is also not afraid to do the dirty work down low. Though only 5’5″, Vaughn is a solid rebounder, sneaking her way in to snatch up a board or two.

is going to be a solid role player for Springdale for the rest of this season. However, I do believe that she will break out of that role at some point down the road, and she will become one of the Lady Bulldogs’ best all-around contributors.

Springdale has several guards who can light it up at a moments notice, but

has a chance to make an immediate impact for the Lady Bulldogs.
Vaughn is primarily a playmaker, as she is great at setting up her teammates. Vaughn has excellent court vision, and she is very unselfish. Of course, she is not just a passer, as she can score the ball whenever she is called upon. Vaughn is automatic off the catch when shooting threes. She has a quick release and she knows how to get herself open when she moves without the ball. On the inside, Vaughn shows that size does not matter, and she can finish over taller defenders.
On defense, Vaughn is a pest. She has active hands and makes it her mission to create as many turnovers as she can. She deflects and steals almost every pass thrown her way. Once she comes away with the ball, she can dribble around defenders who decide to pick her up full-court. Her quickness allows her to become a lockdown perimeter defender.
On top of all of this, Vaughn is a great rebounder. Despite her 5’5″ frame, she does all of the things guards need to do to get a rebound. A lot of guards are taught to not try to out-jump a taller player when going for a board, but instead, they should box them out. That may seem obvious, but some taller players do not try to do that, relying on their length to secure boards. Vaughn has shown that she can take taller players out of the equation with her boxing out ability, even causing some of her opponents to commit over-the-back fouls on her.

hustles extremely hard and she can do whatever it takes to win. Vaughn’s role on this team remains to be seen, as Springdale does not tip off until November 14th when they face Harrison High School in a benefit game. Regardless, Vaughn deserves time on the floor.
