Southwest could not keep Gaston off the offensive glass. All 9 of her rebounds were on the offensive end, and she followed that number up with 10 points and 2 steals. Gaston was finishing well through contact inside, as well as converting her free throws at a consistent rate.

Gaston did not record a block on the evening, which is a surprise considering she averages around 2.5 blocks a night, but she contested shots heavily around the rim. There is not a game where Gaston does not make things difficult for the opposition in the paint.

Ameriya Gaston Ameriya Gaston 6'2" | C Little Rock Central | 2025 State AR was not Central’s leading scorer, but she was an outstanding two-way post presence all night. She has cleaned up the fouling in the latter half of conference play, allowing her to stay on the court and thrive.

Gaston had her conference (and possibly overall) season-high in points with 11. She also had 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 6 blocks. This is her second game in a row to record 6 blocks and her third game in conference play with 6 or more rejections.

Gaston has been impossible to shoot over in the paint. I never saw the opposition beat her off a drive or get her out of position. Bryant had to fight just for a good look at the rim. I would say that most of Bryant’s limited paint scoring was when she was either defending someone else or she was not in the game.

The senior center continues to impress on the offensive end. She plays with strength, pushing defenders around in the post. Her touch around the basket has improved tremendously, becoming an easy assist target for her teammates.

The senior had a solid all-around game, finishing with 5 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, and 6 blocks. I only recall Gaston getting beat on one offensive possession, every other play ended with the center swatting a shot away.

In addition to her fantastic defense, she crashed the glass hard. Gaston recorded 1 offensive rebound, but she made sure to outrebound everybody on the floor, finishing as the game’s leading rebounder.

I knew that it would be a terrible idea to try to shoot over her, and yet, North Little Rock tried to do so throughout the game. Time and time again, Gaston would send their shot to the floor, very predictable.

Gaston was one of the Tigers plagued by shooting woes, but she did everything else on the floor. She grabbed 5 rebounds, deflected multiple passes, and most notably, blocked 7 shots. Gaston has had similar defensive performances in the past, but she recorded those 7 blocks in limited action, as she fouled out late in the 4th.

Day-Davis and Williams were the main x-factors when it came to defensive rebounding, but on the offensive glass, it was all Gaston. All 5 of her rebounds came on that end. When she had position inside, even the Wildcats’ starting center could not keep her off the boards.

However, she needs to be able to stay on the floor. If Gaston can stay out of foul trouble, she will have plenty more games with multiple blocks.

Ameriya Gaston Ameriya Gaston 6'2" | C Little Rock Central | 2025 State AR is about as solid of a defender as they come. The 6’2″ big is a stellar shot blocker with the ability to poke the ball away. It is hard to understand why opposing teams try to get to the basket while Gaston occupies the paint.

Despite her great rim protection, Gaston is still well under the radar. Gaston recently received an offer from Three Rivers College, but her offensive game will need to improve if she wants to garner more collegiate attention.

The reining 6A state champs in Little Rock Central are looking to run it back in 2024/25, and Gaston will need to take a big step in her game if they want to go back-to-back.
