Predominantly known as a football powerhouse, Maury girls basketball took significant steps forward last season.

Under Coach Julius Owens, the Commodores have continued building a respected and increasingly competitive program.

However, there were moments last season when it appeared something was missing on the floor.

Lewis missed last season due to injury, but she spent the summer reminding everyone what she brings.

More importantly, she showed why her return could help transform Maury into a 20-win team.

Lewis is a strong defensive guard with quick hands and even quicker anticipation.

Additionally, she uses sound defensive fundamentals to pressure ball handlers and disrupt opposing offenses.

Despite being slightly undersized, Lewis consistently finds her way into difficult areas of the floor.

Offensively, she creates space, attacks openings, and uses her strength to finish around the basket.

Meanwhile, Maury returns an experienced group capable of building upon last season’s progress.

Lewis could provide the defensive presence and offensive versatility that were missing a year ago.

With Lewis healthy and a strong returning core, Maury could be positioned for its biggest season yet.
