A few weeks ago, the standout senior from Fountain Inn landed an offer from Newberry College and coach Johnette Walker who understands in-state recruiting better than most. Last season saw the Fury move up from 3A to 4A. The 7.8 points, four rebounds and 1.4 steals Brown averaged in 24 games helped Fountain Inn to a 17-8 record plus a 7-3 region mark. Brown was the second-leading scorer, rebounder and assist-getter on last season’s Fury squad. Fountain Inn graduated five seniors from last season’s team, meaning one can expect Brown – who played with Amp Elite on the AAU circuit – to be an important focal point of the Fury’s efforts to remain 4A contenders.
