Fontanella has been one of the trending names form the season and it doesn’t look like the momentum is stopping any time soon. Her knack for creating space, finishing plays and attacking the gas puts immense pressure on the defense. Ashely has shown she’s a premier freshman talent.

Ashley is a fun, high-IQ point guard who is very creative and brings good energy to the court. She plays as if she sees the game a step ahead of what is happening, with excellent court vision and the ability to deliver accurate passes. She can control the game’s tempo and understands the importance of getting her team organized. Ashley is a solid perimeter shooter who can make plays to stretch the floor. She moves well without the ball and stays active, which helps keep the offense flowing. She has a great understanding of ball movement, which keeps defenses on their heels.

Ashley had a strong opening tournament for the MA Huskies as they prepare for their upcoming trip to Arizona. She’s a great passer who sees the floor well and has already shown flashes of creativity with no-look deliveries. She runs the fast break effectively and is also a reliable three-point shooter, especially in pick-and-roll situations.

Fontanella displayed a smoothness and adept inside-out attacks through weekend play. The decisive-decision making on the fly stood out as she turned the corner on defenders. The processing and reads made on the fly make it hard to believe she’s a freshman. There’s just so much to like about how Ashley performed.

Ashley has had strong performances in recent wins over Choate and Berkshire, showing her ability to impact the game in multiple ways. She does a good job of making one simple move and getting right past her defender and into the paint where she can either finish or make the right read. She also moves very well without the ball, consistently finding open space and making herself an easy target for her teammates. When her team plays zone defense she shows great anticipation, jumping passing lanes for steals and turning defense into offense. She has a smooth mid range jumper, getting on balance after a few dribbles, and she sees the floor well, leading her teammates to the basket with accurate passes.

Ashley has been a major factor in Ethel Walker’s hot 8–0 start, including a perfect 3–0 weekend over the holiday break. She brings a well-rounded game, handling the ball with confidence and keeping it on a string under pressure. As a facilitator, she does a great job getting into the paint and kicking the ball out to open teammates, helping keep the offense flowing and creating high-quality looks.

Fontanella has made great strides and proven herself to be a top player in the class. There’s a lot to like about Ashley’s game. She’s an efficient player that also fills the stat sheet up. Her adaptability and natural instincts along with this crafted skillset make Ashley a gamechanger. She certainly doesn’t play like a freshman.

Fontanella has made an immediate impact as a young player, averaging 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. She plays with notable composure for a 2029, showing comfort in high-level prep matchups. Offensively, she can score off movement and attack the basket when opportunities present themselves. Her rebounding numbers reflect her motor and willingness to mix it up physically. Fontanella reads the game well and keeps the ball moving, rarely forcing plays. She shows versatility defensively, guarding multiple positions and helping on the glass. Her ability to contribute across categories makes her a reliable piece in Walker’s rotation. The game does not appear too fast for her at this stage. With continued strength and skill development, she projects as a high impact long-term piece for the program.

Even as one of the smallest players out there, she found perfect spots to grab rebounds and create extra possessions for her team. With the ball in her hands, Ashley can score in a variety of ways, especially by knocking down threes with just the slightest bit of space.

Ashley is one of New England’s brightest young guards. She’s already proven to be quite dynamic in major tournaments, so she’s not shy of the big moments.
