About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a junior combo guard who provides stability, toughness, and leadership in a key rotational role. I bring strong on-ball defense, composure, and versatility, play within the system, and consistently do the “glue work” that helps my team succeed. Offensively, I take quality shots, attack the basket, and make smart decisions.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a natural leader with a determined and uplifting personality. I motivate my teammates, keep morale high during tough moments, and bring a relentless drive to improve. I have a floor-general mindset that helps keep the team organized and focused, making me a positive presence on and off the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm a member of AL-KA-PALS and Emerald Girls, Inc.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through basketball, music, and community involvement, I have grown into a strong leader and teammate. Being part of a team has taught me accountability, communication, and how to support others through both leadership and example. Outside of sports, I sing and play the piano, which has helped me develop discipline, creativity, and confidence.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges was transferring from Stivers to Chaminade Julienne while coming off an ACL injury. I was the only new player, coming from a different division and level of competition, and the only one who didn’t know the system or plays. I had to adjust quickly, earn trust with my teammates and coaches, and prove that I was varsity-ready.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college where I can continue my academic career while also having the opportunity to play the game I love. I want to compete at the next level, grow as a student-athlete, and earn my degree while playing on scholarship. I am open to all opportunities that align with my academic and athletic goals.
