As the only returning starter from last year’s Wildcat team, there is a lot of pressure on Ava Fischer Ava Fischer 5'9" | CG Humboldt | 2026 State IA this season. She has faced double teams all season long and last night’s game was more of the same. But despite Algona’s staunch defensive efforts, Fischer was able to find success in different ways, including behind the arc and by crashing the boards. She doesn’t need much time to let it fly and she is more than capable from very deep (like, volleyball line deep). She also did a good job screening for other teammates and popping out for open looks. She looked strong attacking the glass for some tough putbacks, and also displayed her ability in the midrange with a tough turnaround fadeaway along the baseline.

Ava Fischer Ava Fischer 5'9" | CG Humboldt | 2026 State IA only got to the line for 51 attempts last Winter but she made 47 of those. This season I’m sure the Humboldt staff is looking to get Fischer a little more aggressive while attacking the hoop. She is such an accurate shooter that she needs to take that advantage as much as she can when those opportunities present themselves. If recent history is any indication, Humboldt will bring some skill to the high school floor this Winter. Players like Fischer will play their role, keep things simple, and that will help them succeed in the long run.

I would love to see Ava Fischer Ava Fischer 5'9" | CG Humboldt | 2026 State IA return this Winter with the same level of confidence she competed with throughout the 2024-2025 high school season. Fischer, a 5’9 CG, is coming off of a very efficient season on both sides of the basketball. She converted most of her offensive attempts at a high rate, she went 92% from the charity stripe (47/51) on the year, and she racked up the tips, deflections, and steals on defense. If Humboldt is going to make some more noise this Winter, Fischer will be looked upon as a big piece to their puzzle.

Ava Fischer Ava Fischer 5'9" | CG Humboldt | 2026 State IA is a multi-demential guard that excels on the offensive side of the floor. Her ability to find holes in the defense and finish at the basket for a bucket or for a sweet jump-shot is impressive to say the least. This spring/summer AAU season Fischer did what she was good at. She excelled on offense by scoring the ball, she created for others multiple times a game, and she defended like her life depended on it. This high school season is going to be a big one for Fischer but if she stays locked in and continues to expand her game, she is going to be a player mentioned more then a few times this winter for her success on the floor.

Ava Fischer Ava Fischer 5'9" | CG Humboldt | 2026 State IA is playing some really impressive basketball this spring/summer and it should be touched on. Fischer is knocking down shots left and right, all while staying a balanced player and making life easier for her teammates. She does a really good job of understanding her spacing and when a shot is a good choice VS not so good choice. This fall and winter could be a big jump for Ava. She is the type of player who could pull out a break out season and become one of the best known shooters throughout the state of Iowa. As long as she continues to have steady improvement over the next few season, she is going to be a really nice piece at the end of her high school career. Wether she wants to play at the college level or not.
