Versatile Forward. The Penn commit was named a Division II-AA Miss Basketball Finalist earlier this week. In this game, she put on full display why she is a finalist. I did not realize how versatile she is. She started the game offensively playing on the perimeter and taking 3 point shots. On defense, she was at the top of the zone using her length. Later in the game, she moved to the block using her strength and getting shots with her back to the basket. With her length, she was getting steals and blocking shots. She even pulled out a transition mid range jumper. I had her down with 15 points, 4 steals and a block.

The University of Penn signee is a beast from multiple spots on the floor. She gets it done in all phases of the game: scoring, rebounding, defending, and blocking shots. Her impact is felt throughout. She has great size, is versatile and athletic, and competes. She’s a heady ballplayer, reading and reacting, making herself dominant in so many ways. Her performance speaks for itself, and she has been at the top of her class for multiple years now. A great student-athlete, she’s a true competitor who works diligently on the floor and in the classroom.

Stretch Post. Ava scored 33 points vs East Nashville in December. Ava committed to Penn after the summer season. I caught a Hutchison games a week ago against St. Benedict. Ava is a player that can knock down 3 point shots. She also crashes the boards for rebounds. Something else I saw in the St. Benedict game from Ava. Not only does she have 3 point range. She can also defend on the perimeter as well.

Jones scored 11 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Her length bothered the Lady Mets, but she looked extremely versatile, finding open teammates and hitting open shots outside of the paint.
