Why not start with the champions from Eastlake and their 6’2″ center. She hit 4-6 from three and finished with 29 points in a semi-final win over Kamiakin. She was 3-8 in the opening round win over Bellarmine Prep and hit 1-2 in the championship game. That’s an 8-16 performance from the tallest player on the floor for Eastlake in their run to the Class 4A title.

It’s hard to mention senior standouts without mentioning Schmidt. She was a big factor, per usual, sending shots back on the defensive end and mixing in a blend of beautiful jump hooks inside with shots behind the arc. She floats between the paint and the arc so well and breaks defenders down with her size and skill while keeping them guessing where she’ll attack from next.

She posted 31 points and had 11 rebounds against Arlington. She was able to establish position inside and get some easy baskets with her size advantage vs Lynden Christian. She took it right to the defense and finished well using the glass. She had a hot start in this game and was one of the leading scorers for Eastlake in the win. She did a nice job of taking it right up without allowing the defense to help on her.

She is a versatile player with size and great skill set. She is averaging around 19 points and 8 rebounds a game this season. She is also shooting 50% from three. (13-26) through 4 games. She had a 30 point 13 rebound game in a win over Newport. At 6’2, she is tough to guard. She gets buckets inside and out, blocks shots and plugs the middle. Rebounds could be tough to come by when playing this team.

Schmidt is a fun player to watch. She can be a dominant force inside, offensively, and defensively. She can put the ball on the floor and get to the hoop, hit the jumper, and works hard to establish position. She has the right attacking mindset to be a force all game long. She rebounds, throws long outlets up the court, and has great touch with that left hand. Eastlake took fifth place at last year’s tournament and was close to making the championship game. With Schmidt down low they have a chance to make another deep run.
