Class 4A
Two teams are sleepers. I originally had Union as 3A.
Eastlake – Bellarmine Prep, Woodinville, Ellensburg, and Camas. Those are their four losses. Those are four powerhouse teams. They have a great inside-outside combo with Ava Schmidt Ava Schmidt 6'2" | C Eastlake | 2023 State WA and Sofia Aluas Sofia Aluas 5'9" | SG Eastlake | 2024 State WA , who can play anywhere on the floor.
Union – Here resides the best player in the state in my opinion. Brooklynn Haywood Brooklynn Haywood 5'8" | PG Union | 2026 State WA is that player and she is capable of shooting Union through the brackets. She also has some other good shooters to work with in her backcourt, mainly Ava Smith Ava Smith 5'8" | SG Union | 2024 State WA who has been a 1st team all league selection the last two years. Last year at Camas and this season for Union after transferring in the off-season.
Class 3A
Lincoln – This is a team that should be able to compete with anyone in the post-season. Led by Oliviyah Edwards Oliviyah Edwards 6'3" | C Elite Prep (Issaquah) | 2026 State WA in the post and a handful of guards and wings, they are deep and talented. They are fairly young but can still play with anyone this year and years to come.
Class 2A
Prosser – They have played some tough competition earlier in the season with Sunnyside, Arlington, Hermiston and Ferndale all bigger schools on the schedule. Plus they have already lost to Ellensburg twice. The 3rd time is usually tougher. They have one of the most athletic and versatile players in 2A in Lay’lee Dixon Lay’lee Dixon 5'11" | SF Prosser | 2025 State WA and a lights out three point shooter in Adriana Milanez Adriana Milanez 5'3" | CG Prosser | 2025 State WA .
Class 1A
Wapato – They are currently ranked 3rd in Class 1A, and might not be considered as a sleeper except that everyone is a sleeper with Nooksack waiting around for their next opportunity to make a statement by a large margin. KK Bass KK Bass 5'10" | SG Wapato | 2023 State WA leads Wapato, along with freshman Nevaeh Parrish Nevaeh Parrish 5'8" | PG Wapato | 2026 State WA
Class 2B
Laconner – They have played a brutal schedule up to this point in the season which will prepare them for the post-season. They also have the best combo in Josie Harper Josie Harper 5'10" | CG LaConner | 2023 State WA and Ellie Marble Ellie Marble 6'0" | PF LaConner | 2023 State WA . LaConner is a frequent visitor to Spokane in March, perhaps making them feel comfortable with their environment.
Class 1B
Mossyrock – They opened up the season with a win over Class 2B #3 Napavine. They have state tournament experience, finishing 5th last season, and one of the best players in Peyton Torrey. They probably won’t be afraid of the moment either since they already played in a volleyball state championship game this year. They lost that in straight sets to Oaksdale which might have them mad and ready to go. They also only have two losses, with the other being to current #1 ranked Neah Bay in OT.
