Avery is a versatile wing prospect with length and promising potential. She did well during the hexagon ring split-dribble segment, maintaining control of the ball, while getting her feet to the correct position. Avery demonstrated speed/control when dribbling between her legs and showed a good pushout dribble against the resistance bands. She kept her hands low and swiped quickly to steal the ball away during 1v1, then scored using an effective crossover-spin combo move for a contested layup. Avery will be a prospect to follow this spring with Ladies F1rst 17U.

Avery, a wing for Ladies F1RST , was another player who made an impact at MI College Tour II at Wayne State. She continues to show growth each time out, and this performance was no different. Avery attacked with confidence, blowing past her defender and getting to two feet for a strong finish through contact and the and-one. Defensively, she played with good instincts, reading passing lanes for deflections and coming up with a couple steals. Her steady improvement and ability to affect the game on both ends stood out throughout the day.

Avery, competing with Team Shock at the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase, showed her effectiveness within the flow of the offense and her awareness on both ends of the court. She executed a pick-and-roll well with a teammate, securing the pass cleanly and finishing the play with control. Away from the ball, she moved with purpose, finding open space and making herself available as a scoring option. Defensively, Avery was active and alert, anticipating passes and stepping into passing lanes to create disruptions. Her combination of timing, movement, and instincts allowed her to contribute in multiple ways throughout the game.

Odinga is a long, athletic guard and uses it to her advantage. She’s an exceptional rebounder despite being 5 foot 8 looking to get her team the ball back any chance she gets. Her confidence finishing at the rim shows as she attacks with a scoring mindset whether a defender is there or not. She’s got a great release from three as well making it tough to guard her out on the perimeter. Look out for her to make a big impact for the Brandon basketball program.

Avery looks like a promising prospect who will be an immediate impact player for Brandon as a freshman. At Northwood Team Camp, that became crystal clear. She attacked downhill with authority and played hard on both ends. Avery’s hard drives earned trips to the free-throw line, and she converted the freebies. Avery scored a left-handed layup off the glass, then powered through contact for an and-one layup. She cut backdoor, snagged the pass, and finished the acrobatic layup off the glass. Avery made the effort plays and demonstrated great sportsmanship. She hustled to save a loose ball going out of bounds, followed her shot to secure an offensive rebound, and helped up an opponent after a foul. Avery showed her outside range by drilling a three-pointer in the slot, swiped a steal to score a bucket, and finished a give-and-go layup off two feet. I’m excited to see her help the Brandon program take another step forward in the Flint Metro League this winter.
