The Platteville guard is a consistent creator who has gotten to her spots whenever she wants. Richard isn’t a flashy guard who will string four moves together and create her shot off the dribble. Everything she does is simple and effective. She has been one of the state leaders in assists each season she’s played for the Hillmen, and has created open looks for her teammates. If she chooses to play at the next level, her teammates will enjoy sharing the floor with her.

Since Richard got to campus at Platteville, she has been among the most consistent lead guards in Southwest Wisconsin and the state at large. She has always been a creative player who can get open looks for her teammates. There is also clear room for growth in her skill at the next level once she sees more mature defenders in college. There is a lot to like about what she could be and how she approaches each possession.

Avery was an aggressive two-way guard who grabbed my attention on Saturday morning of the PGH Great Lakes Region Finals with Team Compete 17U. She persistently penetrated and attacked using her dribble to score layups and get to the rim. Avery drove hard, elevated, and finished a tough, contested layup. She split the gap with a burst and dropped in a smooth floater over the help defender. Avery used excellent punch steps to move defenders and create driving lanes. She stayed with plays, stealing away a rebound after a miss to score a tough layup and converted a sweet fake-pass and one layup after securing an offensive rebound. Avery shook her defender with a quick inside-out dribble to score a fly-by layup and was an active rebounder on both ends of the court.

Few players have been as creative as Richard has been around the state in her first three high school seasons. Richard is a player who has been among the best passers and been towards the top of assist leaderboards every year she’s been at Platteville. She is a kid who will make others around her better and be as unselfish as a young player can be at the next level.

Richard does a tremendous job of getting to her spots and making things happen for her teammates. The rising senior from Platteville has been one of the state leaders in assists in each of her three seasons at the high school level. She’s a good athlete who can beat her defenders off the dribble and use her physicality to play through contact around the basket. There are aspects of her game to work on, but the mindset she has, whether she plays on or off the ball, will help a program get better looks offensively.
