Wrapping Up the Grassroots Season

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The AAU season ended a few weeks ago; players and families are getting some much-needed time away from basketball events, and kids are gearing up to head back to school in the next few weeks. Tonight, I wanted to highlight a few more players who impressed me this past grassroots season. Alwin has gotten comfortable on the offensive end and has the athleticism to get to her spots and score from all three levels. She has the composure to play through pressure and has the work ethic to continue finding ways to take her game to another level. She plays with a chip on her shoulder defensively and is willing to bring some physicality on that end of the floor. I think there is something there for her to build on over the next few years. Richard isn't a flashy guard who will string four moves together and create her shot off the dribble. Everything she does is simple and effective. She has been one of the state leaders in assists each season she's played for the Hillmen, and has created open looks for her teammates. It was probably the first time she wasn't the best player on her team and had the ball in her hands most of the time. I thought she played hard every time I saw her and was willing to work hard off the ball, even if she probably wouldn't get the ball. I like her mindset and her willingness to do the little things to win games at the highest level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
