The senior combo guard is quiet, but her game spoke loudly. Alvarado-Tellez played a composed, high-IQ floor game and shot the ball extremely well against a tough Campo Verde defense. She never looked rattled, stayed within the flow of the offense, and showed strong leadership and poise. A steady presence who delivered when the lights were on.

Azalee Tellez is flat out one of the best long-range shooters in Arizona. She hits consistently from 3 point range, and can hit from corners, top of the key, or free-throw line extended. She is a big factor for Canyon View’s back-to-back 5A State Titles in 2024 and 2025. She is a seasoned veteran that can handle the ball under pressure, can play point guard, shooting guard, or small forward. She is a tough defender that can give guards fits because of her experience and toughness. She deserves a lot more attention from college coaches than she is getting. She will definitely play on the next level. Look for Tellez to have a monster season for the Jaguars.

There’s not much that Azalee doesn’t do on the court. She makes excellent decisions, rebounds, defends, and passes the ball well. I love her shooting ability so much that I would love to see her take more shots. She is one of the more versatile guards in the state.
