Brianna was very instrumental in Oak Hill’s run to the Class 2A State finals in February. She has good size, tremendous length, and a little strength. At the 2A level, she does a nice job of playing “taller” than opponents. She keeps the ball high and scores over most matchups. If she were to play at the next level, she would need to build her core strength some and work on playing against people bigger than herself. But Brianna also has a solid face-up game in the mid-post. Defensively, she is an effective shot-blocker, and she showed that in a game Friday against a couple of athletic players.

Brianna was the youngster in the starting lineup for the Golden Eagles, but she helped lead them to a Class 2A State Finals appearance just a couple of months ago. She isn’t a big grassroots participant, but she is highly productive at the high school level. She has good size, some strength, but also length and athleticism. She can play with her back to the basket offensively, or she can face the rim and knock down mid-range jumpers. She has good hands, natural instincts, and she could be an elite small college prospect. She’s also an effective defender and rebounder.

Due to her skill, talent, and size around the paint, Brianna drew about as much defensive attention as anyone in either of the first two games. Even though she scored about half of her season average, she was the most effective Golden Eagle by the end of the game. Brianna was especially good defensively, where she blocked 6 shots. Additionally, she scored 8 points, she pulled down 5 rebounds, and she handed out an assist, plus she even comfortably knocked down the only 3-point attempt she took. And she’s just a Sophomore!!

I’m not sure any of the 7 other teams on Saturday will have an offensive post presence anywhere near the quality of Brianna. She forces you to make adjustments and change your gameplan. She has good size, strength, length, and even solid all-around athleticism. She can demand the ball on the block and bury her defender in the post, or she can step out to the elbows and force them to come out and guard. And defensively, she does a really nice job of clogging the lane, boxing out with physicality, and then getting the ball outletted to her guards to push.
