This weekend, the entire country takes time to relax, party, celebrate, and most importantly, honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service for this country. In line with the theme of the weekend, I wanted to highlight seven ladies who attend schools with "Eagles" as their nickname/mascot.

.

McKenzie is one of the toughest, hardest-working players on this list. She is always going to give it 100%, she'll get on the floor, take charges, and try to help her team(s) win any way she can. Offensively, she has a solid handle and uses her physicality to take care of the ball, she can initiate the offense, and she finds open teammates on time/on target. Defensively, she is probably better-suited to defend bigger guards, especially if there's a good opposing shooter and her team needs her to fight through screens. Look for Zionsville to be a tough "out" in 2026-2027.

Grace has assembled a fantastic career thus far for Fremont, but the 2025-2026 season produced a Class 1A State Finals appearance for the Eagles. I really like how she plays low and compact, she gets downhill North/South fairly easily, and she draws a lot of contact getting to the basket. She also has a solid mid-range pull-up, and she can make shots with some range as well. Because of her ability to both facilitate and score the ball at a high level, she should draw a great deal of elite small college interest, and she strikes me as a potential all-conference college performer in the future.

With the combination of her length, wiry strength, and athleticism, plus a versatile skillset, Claudia has always flashed really nice potential. When she can catch the ball with a little space at the elbows, she is highly effective, because she can consistently knock down the 15-footer or get to the basket for an athletic finish. She has a nose for the ball and pursues rebounds well, plus she is a versatile defender. She can guard wings, forwards, and the occasional undersized post. She has really nice small college potential as an athletic '4'.

Brianna was the youngster in the starting lineup for the Golden Eagles, but she helped lead them to a Class 2A State Finals appearance just a couple of months ago. She isn't a big grassroots participant, but she is highly productive at the high school level. She has good size, some strength, but also length and athleticism. She can play with her back to the basket offensively, or she can face the rim and knock down mid-range jumpers. She has good hands, natural instincts, and she could be an elite small college prospect. She's also an effective defender and rebounder.

Keep an eye out for the Adams Eagles the next couple of years, because they are young, talented, and coming. Destiny is actually one of the older ones with any experience, and she has a great deal of potential. She has a long, athletic frame, she moves well in most directions, she just needs to finish growing and to continue building her skillset. She is a capable and versatile defender, she's a willing rebounder, but she has the physical talent to become a nice wing. She can slash to the basket for easy scores, but making her perimeter jumper a bit more consistent could help her reach that next level.

Elkhart Christian has made it to the Semi-State round each of the last two seasons, and their 2028 group is a big reason why. Kyla acts as their primary ball-handler most of the time, and she averaged 5.4 assists per game in 2025-2026. At the same time, she created havoc defensively (3.6 steals per game), and she kept defense honest, scoring 10.1 points per game. Kyla isn't huge, but she has really nice length, speed & quickness, and she plays with a really nice motor and a quiet toughness.

Laine is a special talent; a big part of the reason she's our #1 prospect in the 2029 class. She is playing "up" on the GUAA circuit with a 16U West Virginia Thunder team. In their GUAA games, she leads them in scoring and is second in assists. She is explosive athletically, she has a great frame, she possesses nice length, but she's also skilled. She is without question at her best in transition and getting downhill making plays for herself and teammates. But she continues to work on making her jump-shot more consistent. She also has the athletic potential to be an elite on-ball defender.
