#40 – At this point it’s safe to say that Streed’s impact with West Central United has often gotten overlooked. That’s our bad. But after seeing her at the Freshman Showcase, it’s clear that the Alexandria freshman is capable of a whole lot more than we first thought. Both strong and explosive, Brielle possesses some serious athletic advantages and no shortage of basketball knowledge. She reads the floor well, has outstanding fundamentals, and can score consistently in a variety of ways. As a defender, the 5’9 guard’s energy and effort are tremendous. Like many of her AAU teammates, Brielle’s style of smart, no-nonsense basketball will carry her far in the college game.

Streed’s performance was one of the many highlights of the Freshman Showcase. From catch-and-shoot threes and explosive layups in transition to crafty drives to the rim and turnaround jumpers in the midrange, the 5’9 guard (pictured above) seemed to score in every possible way, all without forcing anything or taking a bad shot in the process. Brielle’s basketball IQ translated on the defensive end, too. Bringing her athleticism and relentless work ethic on each possession, she played smart, fundamentally sound defense all afternoon. With a young core leading the way at Alexandria this season, Streed is more than capable of making an impact for the Cardinals in her freshman campaign.
