entered the Texas Tip-Off with a reputation as one of the premier prospects in the 2029 class, and her talent was evident throughout the weekend. Standing at 6’0″, Monroe possesses a rare combination of size, skill, and versatility that immediately demands attention. She has the ability to impact the game in multiple ways and remains one of the most naturally gifted young players in attendance.
Offensively, Monroe showcased an advanced skill set for her age. She handled the ball like a guard, created separation off the dribble, and demonstrated the ability to score from all three levels. Whether attacking downhill, pulling up in the midrange, or knocking down perimeter shots, she consistently put pressure on opposing defenses. Her court vision was equally impressive, making smart reads and creating opportunities for teammates when defenses focused their attention on her. With the ball in her hands, Monroe has the ability to completely change the flow of a game.
Her size and athleticism create matchup problems, while her scoring instincts and confidence allow her to take over stretches of a contest. When fully engaged, she looks every bit the part of a high-level prospect with significant long-term upside.
Defensively, Monroe showed flashes of being a disruptive presence with her length and ability to pressure the basketball. However, consistency on that end of the floor remains an area that could elevate her game to another level. There were moments throughout the event where her effort and engagement fluctuated, particularly away from the ball. At times, her body language and approach suggested she was relying on her superior talent rather than embracing the small details that separate great players from elite ones.
The reality is Monroe’s skill level is undeniable. She possesses the tools that coaches cannot teach—size, ball-handling ability, scoring touch, court vision, and natural feel for the game. The next step in her development will be maximizing those gifts through consistent effort, leadership, and attention to detail on every possession. Talent can open doors, but character, competitiveness, and daily habits are what ultimately determine how far a player can go.

Monroe continues to elevate her game, and how can I put this, “her ceiling has no roof” and after her falling into my Tip Sheet waiting to happen group, see evaluations here she has taken her game to yet another level. One play in particular dropped the mic, well, my clipboard, as the clock was winding down, she knew where she was on the court and dropped a step back for 3 at the buzzer. Her midrange has gotten even better, so has her court vision, but she makes those around her better, which is something you can’t teach

Monroe has shown me so much in a short span of time, see evaluations here that her game is already in my head. What does that mean? Well, she was a #D1Lock the first time I saw her, and since I haven’t been wrong yet, her “poise under pressure” has shot up. Her midrange is smoother, she’s scoring off the dribble by attacking and finishing with either hand, and her “baseline to baseline” pressure has also gotten better

Monroe is one of those players who has several intangibles, starting with she’s “long and athletic”, which is the base, and I say that over and over for a reason, and she stands at “the magic number”. She caught my attention playing up on the PGH Circuit, as well as playing with her age group, and even though she was slightly injured, she sold me back then. At the PGH Freshman Showcase, she went off in the 3-on-3, which was no surprise, and my colleague @pghrimidies gave her take from the games see evaluation here. The biggest thing is her UPSIDE, as I see her moving up the list in the not-too-distant future

Showed deep shooting range, stretching the defense with confident perimeter attempts. On the other end, did an excellent job anticipating plays and jumping passing lanes to create turnovers. That blend of outside scoring and defensive instincts makes her a two-way threat.

Monroe falls into that “ceiling has no roof” group as she played up and showed signs of taking her game up, Up and AWAY, because she’s still in middle school, and pressure was irrelevant. She’s “long and athletic,” which is still the base; she’s a shade under “the magic number”. Watching her score around the basket, putbacks included, yes, she rebounds on both ends, was nice, but she also handled the ball and went coast to coast to score. Midrange looked good, defense “on the ball” was also a plus
