Ironically, like Ernstes (above), Brooklynn is another University of Kansas commit from Indiana’s 2026 class. She has also had an outstanding career, and this season was her best to date. On the year, she averaged 21.1 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. She is a talented athlete with great length and a fluid athleticism, plus she’s bouncy. She does a really nice job of playing inside or out, being able to defend bigger guards and wings, or getting inside to use her height against forwards and posts. She also made 28 3-pointers this year at a 37% rate.
I would anticipate Brooklynn will win a lot of the Southern Indiana vote, especially South of Columbus and near the Ohio River/Louisville. She has had a name for some time, and she has produced throughout her career on a team who is 73-23 during that career, however, this season is the first season they have won a Sectional title under her watch. She definitely needs to help the Dragons win some additional postseason games this year, but there really isn’t anyone in her immediate area to compete with her, and Southern coaches like to vote for Southern players more than any other group in the state votes for their backyard. Even though her stats on MaxPreps are incomplete, she is a walking double-double.
Adding to a talented group of four above, I went with height over position, so instead of a true post in the starting group, I love what Brooklynn brings to the court from a skill and versatility standpoint. She is incredibly long, fluidly athletic, and bouncy. She could likely have played high-level volleyball if she wanted as well. On the hardwood, she can score it in the paint, she’s great in the mid-post facing the basket where she can attack or shoot, but she also has a bit of a perimeter game and has really improved her outside shooting. Defensively, her length and mobility bothers EVERYONE. She is committed to Kansas.
Brooklynn has been a highly recruited talent for quite some time, and now she’s one of the top uncommitted kids in the Midwest. She is sooo long, wiry-strong, fluidly athletic, and bouncy. But what she has done each year to expand her game and become more of a perimeter scoring threat at her size is impressive. Whether she’s a ‘3’ in a big lineup or a face-up ‘4’, she can knock down the 3-pointer and put it on the floor to attack equally well.
A lot of the reason Clark County is in the Top-10 of our Hoosier Hotbeds, centers around this starting five, especially Brooklynn. she is currently our #2 prospect in the 2026 class, and for good reason. She is another extremely long, tall, fluidly athletic, and somewhat bouncy prospect. She is a face-up ‘4’, and she has done a nice job over the years of building her skill and stretching her game. I still think she can be a force inside, but she does a lot off the dribble now. Additionally, she has great touch in the mid-post, and she’s starting to knock down 3-pointers with more consistency.
Brooklynn’s team had a matchup Friday they should have won easily, and they did, plus she didn’t have anyone who could match her in terms of height and length on the other team. However, she didn’t use that as an excuse to take plays off, and she attacked it as she would any opponent. I appreciated how dialed in she was, she worked for rebounds, she scored it consistently around the rim, and she even knocked down a couple of contested jumpers. Additionally, she had to sit down and defend smaller, quicker wings from the other team, and she did a nice job of that.
