Koenigs (pictured above) had to be the biggest breakout star at Sunday’s event. The 5’5 guard plays with boundless energy and an unrelenting work ethic that had her turning heads all afternoon. Despite being one of the smallest players on the court, Brynlee’s impact was immeasurable. She handled the ball with confidence and poise, easily blew past her defenders with a burst of speed, and showed flashes of great playmaking. On the defensive end, Koenigs guarded the ball with a gritty, tenacious attitude and rebounded remarkably well for a player of her size. Underlined in my notes was the phrase, “off the charts effort”, which just about sums up the Southland sophomore’s game.
