Tough kid who plays with a lot of grit. She can get downhill and finess them ball into the cup. She handled pressure and played with poise as she got to her spots to knock down shots. She’s a heady defender, jumping passes, getting steals, giving herself up, and diving on the floor for loose balls. Plays with great energy and is one who is going to fight tooth and nail for the ball on every possession. She’s a solid prospect who is going to give you everything she has anytime she is on the floor.

The two skills that mainly stand out are her 3-point shooting and steal ability. Taylor, listed as an SG, is able to act as a PG. Through this, she can create space with high-level dribble moves that open up perimeter shots. The following skills were displayed in a game against Gatlin-Burg Pittman this season. In the game, she made four threes against them.

On defense, Taylor is an elite steal threat just through her effort and ability to make quick cuts. Her ability to make quick cuts allows her to be able to attack passing lanes at sharp angles. It also allows her to try to pry away a steal from an opponent actively dribbling at sharp angles.

Taylor had multiple games with three or more made threes last season. This included an outing against Greeneville High School, where she made five threes. The main way she cashes in on her opportunities behind the arc is off catch-and-shoot actions.

On defense, Taylor occasionally can create turnovers, mainly by getting in the mix and coming up with steals.

Cailyn is one of the toughest guards that you are going to find. She plays strong, and uses her strength to her advantage. She does a great job on the defensive end. I have stated before that this guard could put out an all defensive highlight reel! Taylor’s defense stands out immediately! She is one of the few that will sit down and defend an entire game. Offensively, she attacks downhill, and she knows how to draw contact to get to the line. This is a ’27 that should be on your radar!

Cailyn played an outstanding tournament. I love watching guards make good, correct post entry passes. Cailyn finds the open teammates and gets everyone involved. Her defensive prowess is at another level! She was able to create turnovers and disrupt passing lanes all tournament! During the championship game, Taylor knocked down 3’s and she was able to drive to the rim numerous times. Taylor was so close to making a last second 3 pointer to finish a four point play to tie the game. If I am Taylor, I am taking that shot every single time!

Caught action of the the Tennessee sharpshooter against one of Oklahoma’s top squads. She knocked down at least four from distance in that contest, with a mixture of catch and shoot or being comfortable pulling from off the dribble. Taylor was especially comfortable pulling from beyond the arc while bringing the ball up and the defense sagged off. Appears to have at least one elite trait regarding her shooting, which is a great foundation for a productive high school and eventual college career.

Everyone in the state of Tennessee knows that she is an elite defender! Taylor is continuing to check off all of the other boxes too. Cailyn was getting to the rim with ease. She was setting up her teammates and getting them in the best position to score. She has the ability to control the tempo and get the ball up the court faster than most! The amount of time that she puts into being a better player, shows every time that she steps on the court. Some kids took months off, Cailyn Taylor Cailyn Taylor 5'7" | SG Clinton | 2027 State TN was not one of those kids!

I really liked what Taylor showed at BCAT. She’s was shooting the 3 with confidence. She was hitting middys with a quick trigger off the dribble. She was playing smother defense. And I loved the court vision she’s beginning to show off. I think she’s about to have a HUGE sophomore year for the state runner ups.
