Expert Analysis

Bass, like Hamby, has quietly been putting together an outstanding high school career, each year better than the last for Sequoyah. She is as consistent as any player on this team and it’s that part of her game that has drawn the interest of several colleges, including several division one schools. Bass has excellent fundamentals and size, a nice base to start from, but is a sneaky athlete and plays the game with patience, calm, and confidence. Bass finished the season averaging 19.6 points per game on 40% shooting, 6.2 rebounds, three assists, and two steals per game. She is an excellent shooter and a ver efficient scorer. Like Ibidunni, I expect Carly to have a very good travel ball season in her last and return for her senior year having earned several solid offers and serious interest from division one programs mid-major and up.

Bass has everything you would want in division 1 guard: size at 6′ with a long wingspan, very athletic (watch her on the opening tip), finishes with both hands, and is an elite shooter…from three, the midrange, off the bounce, and in catch and shoot situations. She can play the point. She can play the wing. She quietly goes about her business at Sequoyah with stat lines similar to this routinely. She is a player this time next year that should see more mid major offers and I wouldn’t be surprised if a few schools in major division one conferences step up and offer Bass either.

is one of the best players in a loaded 2027 class in Georgia. She does everything well for Sequoyah and that was on display again on Tuesday as she scored 33 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in a 84-76 win over Cherokee. Bass is an excellent shooter from deep and does a good job penetrating the lane and finishing at the rim. Her length and vision also make her an elite passer. Bass is a very consistent who is fundamentally sound. She takes good care of the basketball and rarely turns it over.

Big guard is a top-notch floor spacer. Plays on and off the ball. Nails pull-up threes and is always ready to fire off the catch. Gets good lift and extension on her shot making it hard to defend. Skilled downhill driver finishes through contact. Sees the floor in transition as a pitch ahead passer. Lengthy defender in the full court. D-I schools have offered.

A confident shooter with size, Bass stretches the floor with her three-point range and has the potential to evolve into a downhill threat. Already holding a Campbell offer, she shows strong long-term upside. Defensively, her length disrupts passing lanes at the top of the zone. One of the top prospects in the state.

Carly finished with 18 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block, scoring all of her points after halftime. Bass nearly willed the Lady Chiefs to a wild come from behind win, but momentum was stymied when she rolled her left ankle on defense with 1:20 remaining down 54-49. Bass came out of the gate firing in the third quarter, hitting three straight threes including an And-1 to draw the Chiefs closer. While Bass can burn defenses from distance, avoiding being a volume shooter and instead focusing on accentuating her gift as being a big guard by getting downhill to score or play make for others can help her when her three-point shot isn’t falling. Bass has all the tools to be a big-time player, already with a Campbell offer in hand. Young for her grade, Carly has a lot on her shoulders for a 15-year-old but is more than capable of helping the Chiefs turn around their season. In the fourth quarter, she got more aggressive attacking the basket and found immediate success, scoring on a pair of drives, one an And-1 while shooting 4-5 from the line. Defensively, Bass played atop the 1-2-2 zone and used her length to try to negate clear passing lanes. Carly is one of the better long-term prospects in the state.

Campbell has offered the big guard that put up 7.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals as a freshman. Carly looks the part with her size and fluid athleticism. She can create for others off the dribble and is a bucket getter from all levels.
