The Pius XI guard is a talented perimeter defender who can make opposing lead guards uncomfortable at the point of attack. Her defensive instincts are great, and she has a knack for poking the ball loose. McGowan is also a solid ball handler who can make plays under pressure, get to the basket, or find ways to get her teammates open looks.

McGowan missed her first season of high school basketball with a knee injury, but impressed throughout the spring and summer. She is an excellent perimeter defender and has a knack for making plays on the ball. The Pius guard will frustrate opposing guards at the point of attack, generate live-ball turnovers, and help her team earn transition opportunities. She can set the tone defensively and be one of the better perimeter defenders this winter.
