Gates is one of the most improved players in Oklahoma and had her signature moment to end the third quarter and start the fourth. She got on the offensive glass for a putback shortly before the third quarter buzzer. Then opened the fourth with a jumper. From that point it was all Torjettes. On the day, she went for 18 points and 10 points. Impressively using her long wingspan to grab 6 offensive rebounds.

Gates was the Chairwoman of the boards in Douglass’ win over 4th ranked McLoud. She pulled down an insane 17 rebounds in the victory. Gates has been one of the breakout performers for the Trojettes. She’s has a huge wingspan and is the one of the better athletes in the Class of 2027. Along with her rebounding and high motor, she’s developing into a complete scorer. Has a very bright future and is a big reason why Douglass has the opportunity to improve on their runner up finish from last season. Douglass will start off their State Tournament on Tuesday with another top 5 match up. This time against second ranked Broken Bow.

Douglass is replacing a lot of production and Gates is one of the players who stepped up big throughout the game. Big time athlete with a plus wingspan, lost track of the amount of blocks she recorded. Generally did a good job of running the floor hard and finishing in transition. Was tough to contain off the dribble in the halfcourt as well. It may not have been a perfect night for Gates, but it was still a stellar start to her season. With the raw potential clearly there for her to be among the state’s top juniors.

Gates is a big time athlete, who is expected to take a big jump forward for 4A contenders Douglass. Had a productive summer with out of state Girls UAA program, Team Lex. Dynamic slasher, with a killer crossover. Great energy on the offensive glass too. Quick off the floor and strong when grabbing rebounds. Picked up an offer from Oklahoma Christian, further indicating the high upside has.
