How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Hi! My name is Delores and I’ve been playing basketball for 9 years. I play the both the shooting guard and small forward positions. I like to play with a fast, controlled pace. I’d like to play college ball! I enjoy assisting my teammates and creating opportunities for my team. I will attack the basket and find ways to get open, as well as moving both in and off the ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a very stones and passionate mentality that shows both physically and mentally. My goal is always to be the best version of myself, therefore creating many opportunities to play more competitively. Off the court, I’m a somewhat shy person, but when it comes to being aggressive, I’m strong.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I take my academics very seriously. It’s important to learn how to balance both basketball and school work, to maintain good grades and work hard in school. I have received the principal’s award for a 4.0 GPA in 7th grade, along with many medals from teachers awarding my hard work and excellence in their classes.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

At first when I started playing basketball I was extremely shy. As I got older I learned the importance of communication, which allowed me to not only better comprehend the game, but have a stronger bond with my teammates. In addition, every month I volunteer at UCM to package and hand out to those in need.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

When I first began AAU, I didn’t get much playing time because it was my first year and other’s 2nd or more. I had to work on off days with my trainer, push myself, and make sure I earned the playing time I felt I deserved. By the middle to end of the season, I was starting and averaging double digits.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that will allow me to express my true skills as well as push me to be the best version of myself. I enjoy coaches that make teams wake up early for workouts and go to bed late for practices. All of these qualities in colleges will help me become a better overall person.
