How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Derryn Goode plays with tenacity, strategic vision, and versatility. She leads through example—with relentless drive, smart decision-making with the ball, and a potent offensive arsenal. Couple that with her academic excellence and leadership, and it’s clear why she’s seen as a rising star.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Derryn “DC” Goode embodies a warrior’s mentality—focused, fearless, and driven. Her personal motto, “I Am War Ready,” isn’t just a slogan; it reflects her deep inner grit, relentless work ethic, and commitment to constant growth. On the court, she leads with intensity and confidence, and off the court, she’s disciplined, academically strong (4.0 GPA), and respected for her leadership and character

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, outside of basketball I’m part of Delta Sigma Theta’s Delta Academy program for high school girls. Through that program I get to do community service projects, leadership development, and learn the importance of giving back. It’s taught me how to balance my responsibilities, build confidence off the court, and contribute to something bigger than myself.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through basketball I’ve developed leadership, resilience, and teamwork. Playing up in age groups since I was 11 taught me how to push through challenges, lead by example, and work with teammates of different backgrounds and skill levels. I’ve also learned that success isn’t just about talent — it’s about communication, discipline, and lifting others up.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I’ve faced significant challenges. Even though I was nationally ranked and had all the basketball clout, I still had to come off the bench and prove myself every time I stepped on the court. Nothing was handed to me — I had to earn my spot and my name through hard work and consistency. On top of that, I’ve been playing up in age groups in AAU since I was 11 years old.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that will push me both on and off the court. My dream is to play Division I basketball and one day see myself competing on TV, so I want a program that develops players at the highest level, challenges me every day, and prepares me for that stage. At the same time, I’m looking for coaches and teammates who believe in family, discipline, and hard work.
