Thomas has lost 5 total games in the last two seasons combined, leading her team to the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16 Championship this season. She truly can do a little bit of everything on the floor, but like the rest of her team, she is a team-first player. When her team needs her to score, she will do that. When they need her to get a stop defensively, she will do that. Thomas showed her value every time she stepped onto the floor. Despite playing with many other talented players, she was her team’s leading scorer (18.2 PPG) and rebounder (5.8 RPG). Her percentages were even more impressive: 63.3% FG, 45.6% 3-PT FG, 81.4% FT. Thomas is a finalist for the 2023 Miss Kentucky Basketball award and will be playing for Murray State University next season.

Destiny could end up the best college player of the entire class as she has shown she’s a true two way wing and one of the best athletes in the class.

I’m not sure that Destiny has a real chance to win the award but it’s possible that she could steal some votes along the way. After an ACL tear, Thomas has bounced back and is having an awesome season for one of the state’s best teams. You can find her in the top of nearly every KHSAA statistic too. Don’t sleep on Thomas snatching a few votes in Western Kentucky.

Thomas can contribute in so many ways on the court and the leaderboards give you a small snapshot of her impact. She has the 5th best field goal percentage in the state (62.3%) and the 11th best free throw percentage (81.7%). She is also in the top 25 in scoring at 18.6 PPG. What makes Thomas’ resume even more impressive is the fact that one of her teammates is also in the top 50 in 3 different categories. She is signed to play at Murray State next year and she will be coming into their program as a difference maker on both ends of the floor. Until then, her McCracken County team is ready to make some noise this season.

Thomas always leaves me impressed. She just does so much whenever she’s on the floor. Even when her shots weren’t falling, she was still showing off her strengths. She wasn’t forcing and she was distributing to her teammates. When her shots started falling, it only added to her impressive play. She moves to get into the gaps on the floor on offense and her teammates do a good job of looking for her in the middle. When Thomas catches, she can either knock down the shot, get to the rim, or drive and kick. She’s a very versatile player and scorer.

Thomas is long, athletic, and versatile. She truly brings it on both ends of the floor and is extremely hard to stop. She can score at all 3 levels and she’s a crafty finisher around the basket. Thomas is poised to be a 2023 Miss Basketball candidate and I like McCracken County’s chances with her leading the way. However, she has a lot of talent around her as well.

Thomas just keeps getting better and better, and that’s a scary thought because of how talented she is. She helped lead her team to a 31-2 record last season. Thomas led the Mustangs in both scoring and rebounding after averaging 18 ppg and 6 rpg. She shot an outstanding 53.7% overall and 31.2% from 3. And Thomas has multiple talented players around her, so that makes what she’s doing even more impressive. She is so versatile and athletic. The Murray State commit can score at all 3 levels. She can post up smaller players and she can go around or score through bigger players. Thomas worked her way back from an ACL tear and should be primed for a big Senior season at Murray. Destiny is a big wing who can really knock down the outside shot but has also become a formidable driver over the course of her career. Expect Destiny to be one of the best players in all of Western Kentucky this season.
