Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Elaina was an effective court general for Mystics 15U P24 all weekend, and that ended with them standing tall as the Diamond Champions. Danyle’s notes from the Championship Game: “shifty crossover to get by defender, couple of wing threes, composed PG, handling pressure, good post-entry passer, hit big FT’s at the end of the championship game.” Elaina received recognition as a Diamond Championship Game Co-MVP.

Elaina plays fast, is ultra-competitive, and shows no signs of timidity on the court. She had the ball on a string, was active on defense, chased down loose balls, and created multiple steals with her pesky pressure. Elaina jumped passes on the perimeter to create takeaways and pushed in transition to score breakaway layups. She accelerated off the dribble for a drive-by layup and cut backdoor for a bucket. Elaina drained a smooth corner three and was a productive two-way player for Mystics 15U P24 at the PGH MI College Tour.

Elaina, a freshman point guard for Petoskey, is already playing well beyond her years and showing the poise of a seasoned veteran. With a high basketball IQ, she reads the floor exceptionally well, making smart decisions and staying calm even in high-pressure moments. Her tight ball-handling skills allow her to control the tempo and break down defenders, while her vision and passing ability consistently put teammates in great scoring positions. Elaina can also stretch the defense by knocking down shots from beyond the arc, making her a true scoring threat. On top of that, she takes pride in locking down opponents on the defensive end, proving that her impact extends across every part of the game.

Elaina is a high-IQ point guard who plays beyond her years, showing poise and control in every possession. What she may lack in size, she more than makes up for with grit, confidence, and relentless effort — she’s often the toughest player on the floor. Her advanced ball-handling, creative vision, and ability to finish around length make her a problem for defenses. With her leadership and skillset, Elaina is poised to make an instant impact at Petoskey this winter — and it’s only a matter of time before her name appears in the rankings.

Elaina earned some serious respect at Ferris State Camp. She was named as a top PG by one of the coaches and described as the toughest player on the court with elite ball-handling. Elaina was recognized as co-MVP of her team and sounds like a two-way player with all the qualities of a special talent at the Varsity level. I enjoyed reading her evaluations and hope to see her in person at the Freshman Showcase.

Elaina is a cerebral point guard who plays with great composure, consistently making smart reads and keeping her team organized on both ends of the floor.
It’s not about the size of the dog in the fight, it’s about the size of the fight in the dog. She is the toughest player on the court and her ball handling is at an elite level. Being able to play against taller girls has made her able to become extremely crafty with her passes, vision of the court, and finishing at the rim.
