A tall guard that runs the floor especially well and handles the ball with confidence in the open court on the break. Showed tremendous hustle, sprinting nearly 60 feet to chase down and block a shot on the defensive end.
Offensively, she moved extremely well without the ball, consistently relocating into open gaps for clean looks. Her catch-and-shoot form was smooth and fundamentally sound, while her pull-up jumper showed great rhythm and balance.
With her size, mobility, and basketball IQ this is a guard to take note of. A competitor on the floor that knows how to win as you check out her high school program

Roberts and Kiowa are aiming for their third straight Class B State Tournament appearance. They’re off to a 4-1 start. She has a good wingspan, is light on her feet and uses those abilities to be a pest with steals. Displays good vision in those transition moments. And is the type of guard who fills up the stat line with rebounds, assists and of course points to compliment her defensive abilities.

Roberts versatility lies more on the offensive end. High motor rebounder, while also an inside-outside scoring threat. Operates well in the high post against zone with mid-range jumpers, while also very capable of hitting from three. A good athlete, plays a bit bigger than her height on defense. While also able to cover a lot of ground, leading to deflections and denying passes.

The freshman was very promising for Kiowa in their defeat. With a lanky frame and good movements, she was a plus rebounder with the way she corralled rebounds. Then on the offensive end, she was often operating in the high post. Where she was a good decision maker, by moving the ball well, or steeping into 15-18 footers. In the second half she had more success in that range as a shooter. There’s a good framework for a young prospect as a potential stretch forward or possibly even turn into more of a perimeter prospect.

The main note that I had beside Ella’s name and even circled several times as she kept making play after play is that she makes her money on the defensive end. She has a nose for the ball and is just a really tough, really tenacious defender who seems like her whole mission out there on the floor is to win the ball back for her squad. She plays a hard-nosed brand of basketball that is really great to see. She can also shoot it and showed a nice dribble drive. At 5’9″, Ella already has good height and is very strongly built. She is definitely a prospect and one to keep an eye on.
