(Live Period) Heart of Texas Saturday Notes

Live weekend #2 for the summer circuit did not disappoint as players were out showcasing their skills in front of college coaches. So many players in the gym that it is hard to cover them all, much less get eyes on everyone.   Check out these young ladies who made my notebook this weekend.    A 5'11 combo guard that showed the ability Saturday to play 1-3 positions if needed. She handled the ball well in the open floor, keeping her eyes up and advancing the break with a long lead pass that resulted in an easy layup.   Against tough pressure, she showed poise with a nice spin move off the dribble, using her long frame to shield defenders and protect the basketball. She moved without the ball, relocating into open space and staying ready for the ball to swing back around.   She attacked well from the wings, making strong reads once she got into the paint. Finishing with a soft touch at the rim or dropping off passes to the post, she consistently made smart decisions. On baseline drives, she displayed good footwork with a slide step to square herself at the rim while also making hard kick-outs to open shooters when the defense collapsed.   Enjoyed watching this young lady play the game. A versatile guard with size, feel, and the ability to impact winning in multiple ways.     Emma is a player on a very loaded team with great shooters, but she caught my attention by doing all the little things winning teams need. Not everyone is going to fire away from 3 every possession, but Emma showed she can do that too, knocking down back-to-back shots from deep in the game I watched.   What really stood out was her toughness in the paint and soft hands around the rim. She did the work early on the block and finished with a strong drop-step bucket. A small/power forward that gives you muscle inside while also running the floor hard as a rim runner in transition.   The best part may be her attitude — Emma just comes to work every single play.     One player that really caught my attention was her defensive presence and instincts. She consistently had the correct hand up in the passing lane, kept her head on a swivel, and rotated the right way on backdoor cuts. Those little details stood out immediately.   Offensively, she was a strong downhill driver from the elbow, attacking the rim while handling contact and finishing through bumps for the and-one. She has great size, a strong frame, and physicality to impact the game on both ends.   A versatile small forward that could also slide over and defend the 4 when needed. This 2028 prospect is definitely one I'm putting a check mark beside to keep tracking moving forward.     What caught my attention was her defensive presence. Maybe it stood out more because I was on the defensive end the first half, but this tall guard has great size and can defend both the post and the wing.   I liked her quick feet denying the wing pass and the decisive reaction to cover the backdoor cut. She was also scrappy on the offensive boards, scoring on several putbacks.   A young player to watch as she will only continue to develop       A tall guard that runs the floor especially well and handles the ball with confidence in the open court on the break. Showed tremendous hustle, sprinting nearly 60 feet to chase down and block a shot on the defensive end.   Offensively, she moved extremely well without the ball, consistently relocating into open gaps for clean looks. Her catch-and-shoot form was smooth and fundamentally sound, while her pull-up jumper showed great rhythm and balance.   With her size, mobility, and basketball IQ this is a guard to take note of. A competitor on the floor that knows how to win as you check out her high school program
